Arthur/Eames

While running a dangerous job Arthur sees a projection about to shoot Ariadne. He manages to take out the projection while taking the bullet for her and falls into limbo. Eames and Ari freak out and insist on going down there and getting him, but Cobb refuses saying they need to finish the job first, after all Arthur knew the risks. Very, very disheartendly, they proceed

When the bookkeeper sees the man coming up the road, he walks across the room to the other side and looks out at the mountains, instead.

The fifteenth book is about the mountains, about trying to walk to them and how they never stay still. The fifteenth book is also about the river, and there are lines and lines of quotes, some attributed and some not. You never step in the same river twice, says one. Rivers are the oldest geological formations, it says elsewhere. And then there is a list of names for rivers: Amazon, Yangtze. Nile, Tigris, Euphrates. Rhine, Danube, Thames. Hudson, Mississippi, Colorado

The blue-eyed man looks sad, now. The bookkeeper recognizes sad. He doesn’t know it, the way he knows the things from the books, but something in the back of his mind whispers sad to him, and he knows it that way

Time passes like that. The bookkeeper doesn’t know how long, but he has never been able to keep track of time in the valley

I thought the fairy tale motif was beautiful and interesting, and you did wonderfully!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's a lovely and interesting prompt--I really would like to see how other people interpret it.

(and I always post all at once, because I'm so terribly unreliable with unfinished things--if it is not finished already, it may never be finished, and that's just cruel.)
