BLARGH! I read this prompt and my brain just EXPLODED with inspiration...I will tentatively claim, and hopefully have something up later today....I am saying this here so that I can't chicken out...but I can't promise it'll be any good lol

Some days, he will check the mail, check the mail, check the mail, and there will be a letter. Arthur will stare at it, feel the world around him dim and darken, will tuck it deep into his breast pocket where it beats in counter point against his hammering heart. He will wait until he is in his room, in their room, and he will sink onto the floor and pull the envelope from his pocket tendering, gingerly, as though it might fall to pieces. As though he might fall to pieces. In the warm glow of evening, he allows himself to wash away, allows himself a private smile at the scrawled, looping words, unbuttons his jacket, leaves himself open and lets everything go for a minute ( ... )

Ohh, I like this. I think your descriptions of the tension of waiting and how it feels to be with Mal are really spot-on.

Also, I'm an Iowan. We do have lots of corn and sunshine (and did have, in the 40s); so far so good on accuracy.

Thank you for the comment! Although, if you continue to read you'll make me a little nervous as someone who actually LIVES in Iowa..in regards to future parts, if I get anything wrong, please know that I'm just trying to capture the attitude of some (many?) Americans at the time of the Second World War, and not Iowa in particular! Especially because I've never been to Waterloo and know nothing about it other then cursory research! lol

OMFG I NEED THIS MORE THAN AIR.

I've been waiting for someone to fill my prompts on Eames being a soldier and Arthur reading his leaders (kind of like a Dear John thing) and A;DJFDSFJ I'm not the OP but as;jf;sakjfklsadfj I'm so happy =D

THANK YOU! I am actually a fan of yours, so I'm so pleased you're enjoying it!! I have such a kink for pining!Arthur myself, and mixing that in with a marathon of Band of Brothers...how could I resist! lol

This is beautiful. Captures the emotions just right. I'd love to read more, see their reunion and relief. (Am assuming a happy ending, because of the picture, and because what you have up so far is already dangerously close to breaking my heart.)

It will get there eventually!! But it's ending up being alot longer then I thought...so the tearful reunion might be a while in coming, but it's coming! The picture in the prompt would not allow me to kill anyone off, not that I could bare to do it anyways!
