It's completely ridiculous. What proof are you giving as a parent if all you're doing is carrying around an egg and saying you're actually taking care of it?

But from what I've read they aren't just carrying the eggs around- some of them read to the eggs or take them for walks outside or dress them. It's not the same as taking care of a real baby, but it's similar enough, isn't it?

The egg is nearly an inanimate object. It doesn't do anything but sit there until it's hatched. Then it'll become something more to work with.

No offense to Professor Ishtar, but maybe this whole teaching kids about parenting and taking care of things would have worked with animal's - not eggs.
