HOLY SHIT! This is DISGUSTING!

It is well worth EVERYBODY'S time to read this chapter from Alan Weisman The World Without Us. a lot of really bourgie high end designers like prada, dior, louis vuitton, make 'shoppers' which are basically tote bags that you're supposed to go grocery shopping with instead of using plastic bags.

only they cost like $400 on up.

Shit like that really pisses me off. Maybe its good that they're doing something, I don't know.

I DO know, however, that you can NOT build and sustain an environmentalist movement based on CONSUMPTION. I'm of two minds when it comes to all of this pop-environmentalism that keeps showing up (the shirts at Target that says "green is good" and whatever). To base an environmental movement on consumerism is to base a movement on one of the very roots of the problem.

But, who knows, maybe it's worth it. Maybe it'll raise enough awareness and get people thinking about the problems. I just don't want it to become a fad and die out in three weeks when the masses suddenly discover something else is newer, cooler, and more exciting.

After all, this trend IS endorsed by Paris Hilton. Remember folks, "Global Warming is NOT hot"
