Yeah, I'm even allergic to 14 karat gold. It seems that what I am allergic to is nickel, which they add to other metal (gold included) to make a stronger alloy. The only pair of earrings that I'm able to wear right now are made of surgical steel, which is the kind of metal they use for various medical purposes such as skull plates and hip pins. I can also wear anything that's not metal, like plastic or glass or ceramic, but I haven't stretched my holes or anything so it's unlikely I'll find something useable in that material.
Oh, and I'm not allergic to *touching* metal, or even wearing it as a ring or a belt buckle (some people are that allergic!)... I just can't wear it as an earring without developing nastiness like cysts.
