So don't ever go, ever go, ever go, go away
Another door slamming. As usual, right in front of his face. Ohno groaned. He's almost tired of this shit. If only it's not Ninomiya Kazunari he's dealing with, his Ninomiya Kazunari, this relationship will have been over way long time ago. That childish man really has to do something about his overly short fuse.
He knows there's no use in knocking that door or begging Nino to let him in to talk the things out of them. He's done this, like, a million times already. So he just left. He knows that in a week everything will be back to normal. That brat will be all over him again as if nothing has ever happened between them.
---
Ohno has just finished getting ready for work the next morning when he spotted something floats behind his front door. He approaches it and suddenly there’s not only a floating thing, there is a whole human being there. Or at least he thought it’s a human being. That human being greets him with a smile, but the smile is not creepy, not even close to comforting. It show some kind of... sympathy?
“Good morning, Ohno Satoshi,” that man says, “do I surprise you? I’m sorry. I am this,” he hands the thing that was floating on thin air. It was a business card. Ohno reads it, still somewhere between his confusion he can’t manage to do any logical thing.
“Shinigami?” Ohno asks after reading the card. “Does that mean?”
“Yes, Ohno Satoshi, congratulations. You name is on the list of the people who has been scheduled to die,” that shinigami says with the smile still not leaving his face.
Ohno’s mind goes blank and all he’s able to utter is, “when?”
The shinigami still has that smile on his face. “It’s going to be the morning after the day after tomorrow,” he answers Ohno’s question.
“The morning after… the day after tomorrow… Three days from now, is it?” Ohno asks, with mind still pretty much as blank as the back of the shinigami’s business card.
“You’re good at doing the math. Yes, it is,” he pauses for a while, “we recommend you to take care of all your business in this world.”
Ohno’s still stunned. He doesn’t know what to say.
The shinigami seems to understand that. He then says, “Well, then. See you in three days,” before disappears into thin air.
“Kazu!” he whispers when his mind has already found its way back to the present time. He knows full well that his stubborn boyfriend won't talk to him for at least a full week after their debacle last night. But he only has less than three days left to be with him. Ohno storms out his apartment room, work has been already forgotten from his mind. Only one thing matters now.
---
Ohno arrived just in time when Nino was just about to leave. He’s standing in front of his door, locking it.
“Kazu! Wait up! I want to say something!”
“What else do you want to talk about now? We talked last night and I'm really not in the mood for talking right now. I have work to do. And by the way, don't you?” Nino says coldly. Typical one-day-after-a-fight Nino.
But this is more important than anything else. How could Ohno think about work he's supposed to do when he only has less than three days left to live?
“Kazu. Seriously. Wait. I. I met someone today,” Ohno stopped mid-sentence. No. I can’t tell him about this. Better that he doesn’t know.
It leaves them with awkward silence long enough to annoy Nino. “Met someone? Someone, Oh chan? Yeah. Tell me everything about the people you meet other than me. I'm more than happy to hear that,” Nino says that and leaves.
Ohno was stunned. He just made his boyfriend even angrier than he was yesterday. Now what he's supposed to do to make it up with him, he has no idea.
“Good job, Satoshi,” he murmurs to himself while making his way out of that apartment building.
---
Ohno was glad he had kept the spare key to Nino's apartment. He was planning on giving the younger a lovely dinner in his room. Here he stands now, dinner's been prepared. He even bought a small vase with flowers on it. Cheesy, he knows. But he can't help it. He has to do everything to make sure that Nino will stop being mad at him.
Because he desperately needs that now. He's going to leave him in less than three days.
There's a sound of opened door. Nino is finally home.
“Okaeri, Kazu,” Ohno says from the dining room. He can hear Nino gasps in the doorway.
“Get the hell out of here, Ohno Satoshi. This isn't your fucking house!” Nino yells.
“I've prepared you dinner,” Ohno replies.
“Yeah, I can see that, I'm not blind! How long have you been here, hah?!” Nino can't hide his feel of surprise.
“About a whole day,” Ohno answers.
“What the hell. Just. Get out. Out!” Nino pulls Ohno on his wrist and pushes him outside the door. Before then, again, slamming the door on Ohno's face.
“Fine! I'll be waiting outside here all night! I'll wait until you let me in! I've told you I'm sorry about yesterday!” Ohno shouts his sentences to the door. No, I won’t give up this time.
The door is opened, and Ohno is happy to see that. But it turns out that Nino is just throwing blanket for him.
“Thank you! And I think I would like some of the dinner too, you know!” and the door is opened again. This time there's a plate of food from inside the room that’s shoved to Ohno’s hand.
Ohno blinks. This wasn't what I was hoping for. But then, better than nothing. So he eats that and try to comfort himself. He'll try his luck again tomorrow.
---
Ohno wakes up with a strange feeling in his stomach. He just had a bad dream, but he can't remember what it was. He’s sure it was a bad dream because he had a very uneasy feeling on waking up. Then he remembers that a day has passed since the shinigami visited him yesterday.
Just in time, Nino was about to leave his apartment. Ohno stops him. This can't wait any longer.
“Kazu. Kazu. Don't go. Please?” he starts to ask the younger to stay.
“What is this bullshit, Riida? I have to go. And you do too. What the hell actually are you doing here since yesterday, huh? Don't you have work to do?” Nino answers.
“I don't care about that anymore. Please. Please, Kazu. I need you. Please, don't go. Please? I need you today more than I have needed you before,” Ohno practically begs his boyfriend. His hand unconsciously grabbed the younger's hand so strong, when Ohno realized it he was worried it will hurt him. But he doesn't let go, he needs his Kazu and that boyfriend of his have to know that. He has not much time left now.
Ohno can see Nino's eyes pointing at him with suspicion. But he really doesn't care about that. All he wants is that they can be together for his last days. He would do anything, anything, really, as long as he can be with that snarky but always lovely boyfriend of his on his last days.
And looks like Nino sees something in the way Ohno looked at him. Because he says, “Geez, you’re having a fever. What is it actually that you want to say?” with that worry, caring tone in his voice. The exact reason why Ohno would never want to leave this guy even when their relationship got so messed up. Because they just can't live without each other.
“May.. May I get in your apartment? It's kind of cold out here,” Ohno pleads. His mind was too occupied he didn't realize that there's something wrong with his body temperature.
“Yea, of course. What the hell were you thinking? Oh God,” Nino opens his apartment door and helps the older get in. Ohno was surely too weak to walk by himself so Nino helped him to the master bedroom. “Wait here. I'm going to make you warm tea.”
“No. Don't leave me,” Ohno moans.
“Just to the kitchen, old man. I'll be back in no time. Geez, what's wrong with you, really?”
Nino was already back in no time. He gave the cup of tea to Ohno. Who drinks it slowly.
“Now tell me. What's with all these fuss, Oh chan? “
Ohno was calmed down by the tea he just drank. And that Nino has been responding him again.
“I... Can I ask you to be with me these two days? I want to take you somewhere tomorrow. Just the two of us. But today, I think I just want to stay in with you here. Cuddling all day,” Ohno says that with his usual lazy tone like nothing has happened before.
“Hah? Okay, stop this, Oh chan. Just tell me what happened. And by the way, don’t you have that someone you met yesterday? Why don’t you just go and cuddle him instead? Or is it a ‘her’?” Nino's voice sounds somewhere between shocked and startled.
Oh that. I forgot about that. He curses himself again for almost spilling the beans yesterday. Wait. Nino really thinks that by someone I mean...
Ohno chuckles. “No! It's not like that,” he moves himself closer to Nino.
“Yesterday, I was going to go to work when I met this person. He was, just a stranger, I never met him before, but somehow, he managed to remind me about how much I love you. He... somehow made me realize that even though we were fighting and I know for sure that you'll just ignore me for a whole week, I don't have to keep myself quiet and just wait. I can actually do whatever I have to do to make you forgive me. Because I can't stand it when you ignore me, Kazu,” he pauses and moves his head closer to Nino's ear to whisper, “do you know how painful it is to be ignored by someone you care about the most in the world?” he says with a desperate tone.
Ohno grabs Nino's hands and place it on his chest, “So, what do you say? Would you spare your precious time for this ignorant boyfriend of yours?” he kisses the younger's knuckles. He doesn't care if that will only make Nino angrier with him. Cautious has been thrown out of the window, he just wants to show Nino how much he loves him.
Nino was quiet for almost one solid minute and Ohno feels like it's been forever when he finally says, “A stranger? Really?”
“Yes. A stranger. A very kind one,” Ohno answers, his voice full of hope.
Again. Nino doesn't say anything. Ohno has already lost his hope by then. He already knows what Nino's answer would be.
“But I have work today, Satoshi, and don't you have yours too?” Nino says. Exactly how he has expected.
“Aren't you tired repeating that line? I can call my manager and telling him that I'm too sick to work. Instead, I do feel unwell after spending the night outside,” Ohno stretched his body. His mind is finally catching up with his body condition, he does feel unwell.
“Why did you stay there at the first place anyway, stupid old man,” Nino murmurs.
“Because I need you, Kazu. More than anything else in the world,” Ohno pauses, “and of course because I love you so much, Ninomiya Kazunari.”
Ohno saw Nino blushed before he looks away to hide it. “We can't- well, at least I can't. It's too late to call sick today, so I need to go to work soon. You can go home or you can stay here, but I'm going to work.”
“May I go to work with you?” Ohno asks. Please say yes. Please let me be with you, I only have today and tomorrow left.
“Hah?” Nino sounds startled.
“Going with you. To your work. Watching you doing your work. Accompany you on breaks. Having lunch together,” Ohno lists. Try to convince his boyfriend to let him do it.
“Okay. I'll take you to work with me. On one condition, you pay my dinner tonight. And I want to have our dinner on that expensive restaurant we once all go there on MatsuJun's treat.”
“Consider it done,” Ohno smiles. At least one of his plans is working.
Yes, he has made a lot of plans to spend his last days with Nino. Last night spent outside Nino's door, he was calling and reserving and cancelling everything he need to spend his last days with his love.
Nino looks a little bit surprised, but seems like he decided to just let it on. “Let's go then,” he led the older to the door by his hands. Their fingers intertwine.
---
Ohno doesn't usually go to a drama set just to watch someone doing his acting work. But since it's his last days and he just want to spend it with his beloved Ninomiya Kazunari, he decided to do it. Actually, he was enjoying it. Watching his lover acts in front of the camera is something new to him. It's definitely different than watching it on TV or movie screen.
He uses the chance to draw a picture of his boyfriend. He was writing something after finished sketching his boyfriend's face when Nino approached him.
“Oh chan, can I get my drink?” Nino comes in on his break.
Ohno also enjoys every chance he has that he can use to spoil Nino. He took the role of his manager. Providing him with drink and food and whatnot. He smiles to himself, happy that he can actually do this on his last days.
---
“This is great, Oh chan. We should do this more often,” Nino says in between his chewing.
Ohno smiles on his boyfriend's act. That selfish bratty guy can be so childlike sometimes. And that's another thing why I would never be able to let this man go.
“I wish we could, Kazu. Really,” Ohno murmurs.
“Ha? What's that Oh chan?” Nino still focused on his meat.
“No. Nothing,” Ohno smiles. “Can I spend the night on your place, Kazu?”
“Oh you should. This dinner deserve a heavenly treat in exchange, don't you think?” he smiles flirtatiously.
Ohno can't resist to giggle. That's not what he meant. But at least he got to mess around with this guy for the last time. And not that he doesn't want that.
---
Ohno woke up early the next morning. He wanted to prepare a breakfast in bed for his boyfriend. He was almost lost his self-control when he saw the younger was still pretty much asleep and lying naked beside him. They didn’t get to do anything last night and just cuddling because apparently Nino found him so troubled he refused the treat. “I’ll keep it for next time,” he said.
If only we have next time, Kazu.
He puts on his clothes and moves to the kitchen. He prepares the breakfast, humming whatever melody that comes into his mind. Surprisingly, it doesn’t take too long for him to finish the said breakfast. He sets it on a tray and brings that to the bedroom. His boyfriend was still sleeping peacefully.
“Hey. Kazu,” he whispers to Nino. But Nino wasn't awake until Ohno plants a kiss on his lips.
“Uhn? Good morning Satoshi,” he says lazily.
“Good morning, dear. I made you breakfast,” Ohno puts the tray on Nino's lap. Which was only covered by a sheet of blanket.
“Wha. What is this, Oh chan? What's the occasion?” Nino sounds surprised.
“Nothing. I just feel like I want to do it,” Ohno leans for another kiss. “Now eat. I'll prepare our lunch. We're going to go picnic,” Ohno walks out of the bedroom.
Almost a minute later, he hears Nino shouted from the bedroom, “Picnic?!”
He answers with equally loud voice, “Yeah, picnic. What? Never heard a picnic date before?”
“Picnic date?!” Nino’s voice is almost like he had just seen the shinigami himself.
“Uhn. And don’t you dare to talk about work. Both of us have nothing on schedule today,” Ohno says sharply. We have no time for work, this is the last day we can be together.
Suddenly he feels a body hugging him from behind. “I love you, handsome,” Nino says.
“You’ll catch cold if you walk around naked like that,” Ohno tried to sound angry but fails because he’s too amused on his boyfriend’s act.
“Let me seek warmth from you, then,” his boyfriend tightened his hug. Ohno can feel something poking him from behind. He’s somewhere between aroused and amused, but he has to contain himself so he just laughs and says, “Eat, Kazunari. Let me finish this so we won’t be starving later. Growling stomach is not a recommended background sound for date, you know.”
Ohno doesn’t need look behind his shoulder, he can feel Nino pouts while moving away to the dining table. Only the thought of the younger’s pout makes him smile like a teenage boy on his first date. The whole situation almost made him forget about his dying day tomorrow when he heard Nino says, “Whoa! This is good! You should make me food more often, Oh chan!”
Ohno froze. More often? “I’ll do it for the rest of my life,” Ohno says, more to himself than to his boyfriend. His mind goes dark again. Yes, I will. That breakfast, this lunch I’m preparing, it’s all the time I have left anyway. He lifts his shoulders on that thought.
“What do you plan for tonight?” it’s Nino’s voice again.
“Tonight?” Ohno’s mind wanders a bit, “I want to spend the night there, Kazu. Just watching the stars with you there. Is it alright with you? If it’s alright I’ll prepare dinner too.”
“Watching the stars, hm?” Nino pauses for a second, “of course it’s alright. I bet it will be beautiful. So fucking beautiful, and don’t you worry about the dinner. A sandwich will do.”
Part two is
here.
This is yet another fic for
Songification project! \(^o^)/
This time we took the collaboration word literally and actually collaborated on making these. These?
Okay. This short (not really) story is made based on request from
nino1711azuki. The request was to make two POVs based on two solo songs.
This is Ohno's POV, taken from his solo from Popcorn Album, Two. Nino's POV is from his solo song, Konseki (or he calls it as Kako).
Betaed by no other than the mighty
gurajiorasu herself.
Took a solid two weeks for us to make it, we had fun! (Fun? Yes because we're that masochistic).
Thank you very much to yarukizero because without her we won't be able to make these since both of us don't understand Japanese. XD
