Ugh I wish this was a movie. There's such a vivid atmosphere that you've created that it feels almost tangible. This is not only the setting which is so perfectly bleak but your narrator has a depth that was wonderfully expressed, as though this piece--although small--is huge. I like your use of anaphora, it gave your story a really steady flow that made it soft to read despite the hard nature of your topic. Great job. =]
