Snapshot on an Autumn Afternoon

A/N: This is a side story to Always Love. I had written the first page of it when I had a discussion with Kelly, but it ended up being an attempt to address Kelly's questions. Which was just because Beck thanked Heather at the end of the series doesn't mean he might not still have trust issues with her or isn't still hurt by what she did get ( Read more... )

This is fantastic, absolutely fantastic. You do a great job of getting inside of Beck's head, processing what he'd be feeling, both towards Heather as well as meeting up with Jake again.

Terrific one-shot! I'm glad you gave us this much needed missing scene.

I'm glad you liked it. I'm thinking I may at one point still do some editing on it. Some of the transitions seem choppy & Jake seems to be almost blurting info at Beck. I'd like to go back in add a word or two here or there to slow the pacing down a bit. It's too much of a bad habit of mine to rush scenes.

I don't know about you, but I do get influenced by music pretty easily. I wanted this story to be able to fit back into the main story one way or another. When I first started it, I was being influenced by "Voodoo Child" by Rogue Traders and have it tie back in to the story that Heather will always be attracted to Beck because of his chemistry with her. After I talking with Kelly, I started latching onto "It's Beginning to Get to Me" by Snow Patrol. I think the later one actually ended up working better & will hopefully tie back into the story a little more securely as well.

Lovely.

I can certainly see this being Beck's thought processes as he's navigating his way through his new reality. And trust issues in relation to Heather would be a very big thing in the first little while after his resignation. Well done.

Thank you for posting this "stand-alone" - and there's another chapter from nativefloridian - it's been a good day.

Now if rubberbisquit has an update ready, I will be a very happy girl. ;)

Sorry you've been having a hectic time at work. I am sooo glad this work week is done for me. (Ok, so I'm ignoring the fact that I will probably have to pop back in there for a half hour tomorrow morning to take care of an order -- I figure I can take care of shopping errands afterward.)

I hope to release another chapter soon. I'm doing a little revising of the section I have written but haven't published yet because I wasn't happy with a few things. I keep thinking I see the end of this section in sight, but the pages just seem to get longer and longer and I still have Heather in San Antonio. Good news is I just got the series on dvd, so that will help me understand Heather and Beck better.

Anyhoo, hope things settle down for you soon. I'd love to read some Beck and Heather stories from you. :)
