Most of Sunday morning was taken up with an on-line cat club meeting done through Yahoo which is not compatible with AoHell on a laptop with a dodgy colour display... Most of our concern at the moment is focussed on getting the requisite 100 members to have representation at the GCCF. As we'll be having a membership table at he Supreme next ( Read more... )

You didn't miss anything, unfortunately. Perhaps this plot wouldn't have seemed so hackneyed if 'Supernatural' hadn't given us almost the same thing, with less blood, very recently. And yes, it had absolutely nothing to do with SF at all, in the end.

Sadly, it seems the 'Torchwood' universe doesn't hold together very well, what can't these writers seem to grasp the concept of scale!

It goes a lot further back than 'Supernatural' or and of the other film references that are being thrown around. After the Cottingley fairies, and Sawney Bean I'm wondering how long it will be before we get the inevitable Jack the Ripper episode...

It's the writers. Dr Who is in some ways pretty much the same (there are only two episodes worth watching in the first season, and two in the second) so it is no surprise that much the same set of writers make the same sort of hash.

Fortunately for them, Who has a very robust structure, set in stone in the dim and distant past. Torchwood hasn't. They don't seem to know what they think they are making! Is it a rip off of X-files, or Dr Who-with-blood-an'-sex or CSI: Cardiff????? Someone needs to get a grip.

I heard on the news this morning that Cardiff was subject to a crime wave when an urban myth (That a chip from a Ford car radio could be used to substitute for a sky viewers card) got loose.

The chief constable implied that Cardiff people are thick.

It obviously affects the Torchwood writers too.

I was embarassed for the cast (even Gwen)

How do they write so little story into the time available? The magic roundabout had more complex plots and more happened. (And was better acted, if push comes to shove)

Get a script editor with the ability to write witty lines for god's sake!
