I avoid signing in and out of gmail accounts by using different browsers for different accounts - and then because I don't want Fb knowing anything about my normal email addresses, I have another one for that too. It doesn't seem to affect anything else, and if I had them I could presumably also have three lj accounts open at once (read dw, or whatever your preferred flavour). It's bad enough having to remember all the passwords, I can't cope with the madness of signing in and out of things as well... *g*
I also do that for things I have more than one account with, namely Facebook, Flickr and HabitRPG. Yes, I know you're not supposed to have more than one Facebook, but I do it to keep family and online/fannish friends separate.
I can stay logged into one account in Chrome and the other in Firefox. Much easier than constantly logging in and out.
