*snug* They didn't exactly start off perfect, themselves. (And potatoes are surprisingly sturdy, before you get used to them.)
Actually, your grandma probably has calluses on her hands from cutting up potatoes and other vegetables, because it seems like some generations actually thought it wise to hold these things in their hands and drag the knife through the vegetable towards their hand. o.O <-- that is the face I wore anytime somebody did that in front of me.
I, myself, can now do potato chopping and peeling of quite good quality, but, because of my issues *cough*perfectionist*cough* it takes forever. ^.~ Onions and I will never meet at the cutting board, however. ^.^; I actually seem to have an involuntary reflex of backing away and trying to uninhale whenever I smell one. ^.^;
