Hi Ina. It's Joa. Had lots of spare time, being on leave and tending to a daughter with tigdas hangin. So happy I got to read your blog again.

That's always the dilemma of parents and highly impressionable kids. We have this HUGE responsibility of teaching them to be the best people they can be. And, no manuals or how-to's for us.

I thought I had a year or more to go before I take teaching the two kids seriously - discipline, explaining stuff, teaching values. I thought, they're just babies. But lo and behold, Juan's already mimicking many of the things we do.

And so, even if I'm not sure he understands (he just cries when I prevent him from doing naughty stuff) I try to explain to him things. But I'm pretty sure these moments (the ones with me talking and him crying) are what parenting's made of. We just have to trust our gut and our love and you're right, pray, that they'll turn out okay. =D

i think when the time comes, you'll find a way for the little juans to understand what simplicity is all about. the brood have been growing up kind and generous and loving. :) there's been a lot of JVPs who came from well to do families and when subject to conditions of the area adjusted well enough. you were raised well and i think you can raise your kids to have compassion without being condescending. :)
