[What if you you were nothing but a little ball of flame, and then suddenly you woke up with arms and legs and an actual body? It would be quite the ordeal to get over. In fact, Sissel has spent the good part of the day actually learning how to walk again.]

[He has succeeded so far, but he still trips every once in a while. But at least he's ( Read more... )

No one's exactly sure how we got here--or how to get back. [He sympathises with the "doing something important thing"]

If it helps any, time apparently stops back home when you're in Johto.

[Surprised blink] Really, you can't? But you sound so learned.

I came at an odd time, so I haven't had the pleasure of meeting the "mother" everyone else mentions. She apparently says the same thing to every one of the trainers, though.

Let's see...you've already used your pokedex--hold onto it, it's really useful. Your pack should have some currency and book on the pokemon basics, as well. If you follow the road out of New Bark, it should eventually lead you Cherrygrove, but I wouldn't recommend traveling in this weather without a fire type to keep you warm.

No. I actually don't remember the meaning of a lot of things, like "science", or "music box", or even "kidnapping". I've been learning along the way, though.

I wouldn't be surprised. I had a feeling that she wasn't that genuine...

A fire type? Oh, like the type of Pokemon. Yeah, I highly doubt my Gastly will make me warm. I guess I'll just stay here, learn as much as I can, then go to this Cherrygrove place when the weather gets better.

That...must be rough. [Frown] You remember the word, but not what they mean?

It's a sound plan. If you're really curious, you could always flip through the book to learn a bit more about this world before you leave New Bark. The battling section's especially important--even if you aren't keen on battling with other trainers, it's hard to avoid the occasional run-ins with the wild pokemon.

I don't even remember the word. I just heard other people mentioning it.

Battling? Like fighting? Why would I want to fight other Pokemon? Are they really that dangerous?

[The frown deepens] I would be glad to help with that, if I can.

Well, battling is something that's part of Johto's lifestyle. Since our abilities don't work here, we must rely on pokemon to protect us. Most pokemon are friendly, but sometimes they can be provoked into attacking trainers. And...well. [He presses his lips together] Some trainers use their pokemon to attack others.

Well, maybe I'll remember them sooner or later, along with who I am.

...Oh. But it doesn't hurt the pokemon, right? They just fight?

The pokemon are incredibly resilient, but when they do get injured, the trainers bring them into the Pokemon Centre to get healed. [Pause] I don't remember there being one in New Bark, but the professor there should be able to help you out if something happens.

I work in the Goldenrod Centre--bit far from New Bark, really, but if you're ever in the area, stop by!

That sounds like a plan. I have to learn how this battling system goes as soon as I can.

I'll definitly try to if I'm ever in the area. It isn't too far from here, right?

It is...actually. Cherrygrove--the town I mentioned earlier--is about a few day's walking distance of New Bark. The city after that would be Violet, which is about a week away from Cherrygrove.

There's a short-cut to Goldenrod from Violet, but we can get to that once you're closer. For now, I'd say acquainting yourself with Johto and the pokemon around you is the best option you have.

True. And, if what another guy told me was correct, I'd better sit and wait out the weather. I shouldn't be going anywhere in the snow, especially if I don't have any skills for traveling worth mentioning...

Best wait it out. A few friends of mine tried traveling in the snow and nearly got frozen, and most of them ended up with nasty colds after that.

Yikes. That doesn't sound good. I definitely don't want to make my body sick after I just got it.

Your body's new, too, isn't it? [Well, if that isn't one of the oddest things he's ever said...]

You should take the time to get used to it before you leave New Bark. It might lessen the stress of traveling--or better, find another trainer to travel with. Even if Johto's relatively safe, having companions is always helpful when you're new to the area.

Yeah, I was like a little ball of flame before I got here. So having a body is quite new, indeed.

Right. I'll try to learn as much as I can, and I'm sure I;ll find someone here's who's nice enough to encompany me when I decide to travel.
