Mini-reviews, lots of different genres. I think the majority are YA, which is probably my favorite genre at the moment. I know, I'm technically too old, but it's what I write as well, so it's research? *coughs*
I get most of my books from LJ (eBook sharing communities) or random picks from the library. There are some authors that I have followed for years, and I always search out those books. But most are just random "this might be interesting" picks or recs. I'm in a couple of book discussion comms and I'll catch notice of particular books that way.
...Still only recognize a small fraction of these. I liked the concept of the Shamer's Daughter too, but I could never find the sequel. Uglies had an interesting premise that I loved, but I kind of thought it could be better, and the same goes for 13 Reasons Why.
I love Westerfeld's work, but I didn't get through Specials either. I didn't like it much. "Extras" was the best book in that bunch, as far as I'm concerned. But the rest of his work is some of my favorite stuff - "So Yesterday," his first YA stand-alone, is a favorite of mine; "Peeps" and "The Last Days" are some of the only 'vampire' novels I've ever liked, and "Leviathan" - Oh, Leviathan! - makes my best books of the year list by far. :3
"Thirteen Reasons Why" was also pretty awsome, and I really want to read the "Hunger Games" and "Catching Fire" but I kinda want to wait until they're in paperback so they don't cost so much...
