I am asexual and, frankly, it still bothered me. Not because I felt personally insulted - I'm quite happy with my choices. This wasn't just about Sherlock. 'Virgin' is used as an insult in a lot of TV shows and a lot of jokes. It makes me sad. This was my way of dealing with those feelings. I see a lot of talk about 'slut-shaming' but not as much talk about 'virgin-shaming', which, as I mentioned in my author's note, seems (in my experience) to be more directed at men than at women.

I see that we have a disagreement here, but I respect your opinion and thank you very much for taking the time to comment on my story even though it may not have been to your liking. Either way, I'm glad there are new episodes of Sherlock out for us fans to discuss.
