OOC; Nina, Mai and Dark's apartment.

In the living room of Nina's apartment are baskets of acorns covering every possible surface; on the tables, chairs, sofas and floors. In the middle of the room is one milk container with a plain envelope placed by its side. Inside is a letter written with black ink on plain white paper. This is what it says:

[ Having fallen asleep after Mao's departure, Nina was asleep when Mai and Dark left and the little pirate thief broke in. She's surprised to find herself alone in the apartment when she wakes up, and rubs at her eyes as she steps out into the hallway. ]

Mai? ...Dark?

[ She stumbles and trips over something in the dim light, catching herself on the wall. Confused, Nina switches on the light, then freezes at the baskets of acorns everywhere. ]

[the door creaks open, revealing a Mai bundled up in a hooded sweatshirt. She tilts her head and stares deadpanned at them before speaking.]

...Was there someone here? The acorns.

Yeah, someone was here while we were gone. [glances at Nina] Nina's brother is after her for some reason.

[ Nina stares down at the last book she's pulled out from underneath the mattress. All of this was supposed to be over. She stays silent in the bedroom, clutching the children's book tightly. ]
