Out of curiosity.

If possible, could I get a count of how many people have ever attempted to bargain with Dorian, the old woman by the fountain?

Whether you succeeded or not would be helpful, as well as whether you deemed the price worth paying. If you consider that personal information, it's not necessary at all.

If it were possible to, I would. But if they have left, then I doubt I could include them.

V and I both tried to bargain with her for the same thing on separate occasions, but it didn't work out either time.

V did manage to strike a deal with her to keep everyone in the City safe when he turned back the countdown, though.

I apologize. I take it that she drove a high price?

I was told about the countdown by Evelynne. I imagine V had to pay a heavy fine for something so large.

She wanted all--well, almost all--my memories of V for a way out of this place.

He...he would've been left dead by the City if I had stayed at home like he wanted me to. It electrocuted him...

And was that her only offer, or did you at least attempt to bring her price down?

The price was his life?

I...

I did.

By your response, I must assume that...it did not go as planned?

Erm. No, no. She gave me what I asked for but I'm not sure if I was smart to give her what she demanded in return.

If you don't mind my asking, do you recall what you paid, or was it nothing tangible?

Did you consider what you paid to be reasonable?

Understandable. Small cost for a small exchange. Thank you for satiating my curiosity.

I haven't even tried because it would be useless.

Why so?

Because I know that buying a way out would cost too much. I can't lose anyone.

If you were told that what she asks for can be driven down to something less valuable than that, would you try or no?
