It is pretty great. I used to go every year before I started going to Coachella. ;) I'm excited to go again!

Three things.

1) The best thing about a shit week is that the week that follows is generally better.

2) We saw the poppies last week (yes, we drove 5 and 1/2 hours twice). They are HAPPINESS.

3) Reading your comment about your movie list, I saw you choosing by title. You're all, like, "Oh, yeah! Death at a Funeral! That sounds MORBID!" and then you're, like, watching it, laughing through your tears shouting, "WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF hahaha HORROR MOVIE hahaha IS THIS?!"

2. That is so good to hear. I'm excited about seeing it. Did you take the little ones with you?

3. Haha, I actually knew what it was about prior. I wanted to see it in theatres when it was out but missed the chance so I rented it. It was great, even with the mildly absurd ending. So! While I do watch a lot of horror, I do have other tastes. ;)

That is a very lovely list. I love that you love horror so much. As do I. I am in the midst of working on a George A. Romero zombie sleeve and went to school for special makeup effects so I can do gore. Still always wanting to learn more tho. :)
Where did that icon come from? It's extremely beautiful.

WHAT?! How was I so unaware of yr awesomeness?
Do you have photos of yr sleeve on yr flickr? I'd LOVE to see it. that's fucking rad.

Also, please come to LA and make me a zombie. My cousin was in cosmetology school for awhile (one of her many short-lived ventures) and turned me into a burn victim once. I gotta find the photos - it was fucking fun.

Yay, I'm so glad for the horror recommendations! It's my favorite genre, and not enough people appreciate it darnit. I got the last one you mentioned from Netflix today.

Haha, I know it's not appreciate enough. :) Have you seen any good ones lately? Zombie & Trauma are both kinda old (or at least Zombie is) so I'm trying to catch up on all the classics I haven't seen yet.

No, I haven't seen any good recent ones. The last that is sort of "horror" was the Black Christmas remake. It's very campy and corny, but I liked it.

Oh and I just watched Inside. I enjoyed it a bunch.

Ah, I wanted to see the BC remake but I haven't seen the original yet and wanted to check it out first.

Glad you liked Inside! :)

Damn I tried to leave you this comment THREE times earlier and it still didn't go through!!!

1. ZOMBI 2 YESSS. Although I didn't love it, I liked it a lot more than Romero's movies. I don't know why, but I just can't get into his movies. It's surprisingly gory and the theme music stuck with me for days.

2. Did you find good books? I LOVE book sales. I went to one last week, I should post my finds.

3. You're awesome and it's the weekend. I hope you have a wonderful one!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Night of the Living Dead trilogy (and Land of the Dead even had it's moments) but some of his other stuff is just meh. And I loved Zombi - you could really tell just how much modern zombie movies ripped it off (or lovingly patronized it, heh). It seemed like a classic grindhouse movie.

I got one book and it was free, haha. I buy books so often at thrift stores for a buck or two each (or bookmooch them) that it always seems kind of frivolous to buy books for more than that (especially full price). But I had fun & I went a friend that I've known online for a few years so it was good to finally meet in person.

I am having a good one! Thanks. :) You are pretty awesome yourself. <333

I've been meaning to re-watch Night of the Living Dead. I saw it in middle school and thought it was pretty cool.

If you have time to read, check out The Rising and City of the Dead, a zombie series by Brian Keene. A friend recommended them to me and I loved them, and I gave them to Olaf for his birthday and he loved them too. (There is some sexual violence--only in the second one I think--just to give you a heads up.)

Yeah! I kinda hate paying full-price for anything these days. I can't find the coolest stuff at thrift stores here, but if I'm patient I can sometimes find some cool things. I just haven't had time to look in forever! I used to scour Goodwill every weekend.

Anyway glad you're having a good weekend :D <333

It's great. You might want to read up on some of the theory/commentary behind it too - it's smart & fascinating.

& I promised myself not to get any more books until after I move in the summer but I will try to keep those in mind. Are they graphic novels?

Re: thrifting - I definitely have more luck the more often I go. I used to go at least every week but now I've been kinda going more sporadically.
