How could anyone complain about being bombarded? It's like being wrapped in warm blankets with snuggly puppies. No such thing as too much.

While that's terribly flattering, I'm afraid you speak too soon. I've got a boatload of angst coming up...tomorrow, probably. :-P

But thank you for saying so anyway!

I think I can safely say that no one on your flist is going to feel as if they're being story-bombed -- or, if they do, they won't complain when it's stories like this one! :-D This is more moving than I can say! I absolutely love the exchange between Sherlock and Lestrade when Sherlock wakes up. There are so many wonderful moments that I want to quote them all. However, I'll stick to the ones that hit me the hardest - emotionally:

“Gregory,” he whispers, his voice slightly stronger, and God, when has Sherlock ever referred to him by his full first name? “You can’t do that. If I lost you - I’m quite certain that I - would die.”

“I don’t understand, Sherlock,” Lestrade says softly. The detective’s lips quirk into the smallest of smiles, and Lestrade thinks it’s the most wonderful sight he’s seen all night.

“You are - my world. And if that world - stops, then I would - stop. I would literally end - because you ended. Do you see ( ... )

I can't tell you how much it means to hear you say that! Thank you for taking the time to do so. I'm glad that those scenes in particular worked for you. I was a little unsure about them, so to hear that they hit you hardest emotionally really means a lot to me. Thank you, thank you!

I love this story so much. So much. It's got such a lovely slow build, from Lestrade holding it together to the incredibly tender treatment you give Sherlock and John's attachment even thought John is off-screen, to Sherlock's anger - with himself and with Lestrade, so in character and well done - to Lestrade finally allowing himself that moment to let Sherlock see how much he means to him.

This shatters me, too:

“You - always were -” he manages, “ - far too kind.”

Lestrade shatters, the last of his defenses destroyed with just six words.

“I have my fair share of regrets, Sherlock,” he says brokenly, fighting the slow burn gathering behind his eyes. “Enough to last me a lifetime. You aren’t one of them.”

Your writing is so stark and clear, the tone and pacing and everything just perfect for this piece. Thank you for writing this and I'm so glad you shared it and you know I'm always waiting with baited breath for your next offering :)
