These are a few of my favorite things

I have a set of questions that I love asking people because the answers are so very interesting and revealing about the person. I get a wide variety of answers to these, and some of them include fantastic anecdotes. I ask these of all manner of people: strangers on planes, clients I work with, close friends, casual acquaintances, people who take my ( Read more... )

Of course, I even set my alarm a little earlier than I need to get up so that I can hit snooze three or four times. I feel like I'm getting away with something even though I'm not, and if I don't end up hitting snooze I have a little more time to get ready for work.

How long has this been your habit?

Oh I can't be sure, I suspect I started sometime in highschool when I started waking up to an alarm.

I don't mean to hit snooze, but it seems that I do it fairly frequently. I know my alarm is set for 6:00, but I rarely consciously hear it until 6:27, which would be three snooze cycles.

Do you accommodate for the 30 minutes of extra snooze time when you set the alarm? That is, are you aware that you'll probably inadvertently snooze for about half an hour, and set your alarm for about 30 minutes earlier than your morning routine requires?

No, I am perpetually 30 minutes behind nowdays. I used to get up as soon as the alarm went off and now I get up as soon as I consciously hear the alarm.

ha! I probably spend at *least* an hour in Snooze Button Pushing Mode.

Its pathetic, really.

I've spent the last decade with jobs that had a somewhat squishy starting time. So I set the alarm for a fair amount before I actually need to get up. While I'm laying there in the blissful, warm, relaxed state of Snooze Button Pushing Mode, I begin to negotiate what I can do to minimize my tasks before I leave for work. I figure out what I'll wear, I plan my entire routine in order to make the process as brief as possible so I can just stumble my sorry self out to the bus and try to wake up better there.

I am not a morning person.

at all.

If you include your one hour of SBPM, how much sleep do try to get in a night? And how much does this deviate from the amount of sleep you actually get?

haaahahahaha!
Yeah. I *never* get enough sleep.

I guess ideally I'd aim for that whole 8 hours thing. Not because I believe the hype, but because it seems like a decent number.
When I took a year off from working, I discovered that I was at my best when I went to bed around 4am and got up around 10am. I loved it. Sadly, life doesn't quite accomodate that schedule.

I tend to get about 6 hours of sleep, on average.

Read! The! Instructions!

"For each question I'll post a follow-up with my observations over the years from asking the question, and my own experience as well."

Rest assured, you'll get an exhaustive, comprehensive spilling of my own guts.

Shouldn't you have used your "oops" icon? Not that I remember that one particularly or anything.

Sometimes I wish I could >:D
Since the critter is my alarm clock, hitting her isn't such a great idea, although I do hide under the blankets and hope the sound goes away.

Never does though.
