This weekend, Will and I met up with
lishd and
gorthok for a weekend trip to Silverwood Theme park in Northern Idaho. We left for Seattle Friday evening, picked them up, and i drove us all the way to our hotel which we paid VERY little for thanks to Lish and her ability to get AWESOME deals) where we took advantage of the 24-hour hot tub. A few hours into the drive I got a little freaked out about having to drive through Snoqualmie Pass. I was very surprised then relieved to learn that I was actually currently in the pass and nearly through it. Ah, the beauty of driving over mountain ranges in September as opposed to February.
The next morning, we awoke early to a complimentary breakfast of waffles, cereal, and other good things people eat for breakfast. After, we headed to Wal-Mart to get canned food. As it turns out, Lish picked one of the weekends in which Silverwood takes half-off the price of park tickets if you bring two cans of food for each person. SO awesome. We got to the park right before it opened and our first ride was the carousel. Our initial plan was to go all the way to the back and work our way up, but we got a little too excited about being there.
The following will be a detailed description of the rides and how we felt about them. There will also be ratings from 1-5:
Note: I usually don't ride roller coasters. I get motion sick and they give me headaches. When I was younger, I could ride them all day. Now, I'm too old.
Tremors (wooden roller coaster) I agreed to ride this because I have liked wooden coasters in the past. I was not aware that it was one of the most intense rides the park has to offer. I was obviously tricked. There were a lot of dark tunnels and steep dips and I was happy when it was over. I give it a 3.
Timber Terror (another wooden coaster) I did not ride this. I learned my lesson with Tremors and let the three of them go on about their fun. However, after it was over, they were less than thrilled and in pain. I give it a 1.
Panic Plunge (this brings you up a 140ft. tower and then drops you at 47mph.) Once again, didn't do it. The three of them did it at least 4 times. I took pictures and held stuff. 5 for the reactions of others.
Aftershock (this is one of those coasters that brings you up 177ft. goes around the rest of the track, then does it again backwards all at 65.6mph) Wasn't interested. They rode it 4 times and were in pain each time. Masochists, I tell you. We met a woman who was psyching herself into riding it and when finished, was jumping up and down and was SO happy. When I was waiting for Lish, Will, and Joe to finish their 4th turn, I saw her on the phone. I assume she was calling all of her bff's. 4 cause it causes some pain.
Corkscrew (nothing fancy, just a regular coaster. First one in the US to make people go upside down) I almost rode it when I realized that it only lasts about 15 seconds. 5 for being short!
Log Flume (sit in a log, go down a flume) I enjoyed myself and no one stole our stuff (phones, souvenirs, etc.) while we were on the ride. 3 for not getting us too wet...until the end when it sprays you.
Skydiver (like a ferris wheel, but a fully enclosed cage that twists and turns in every direction) Lish and Joe rode and Will and I peed and held the stuff. Lish and Joe seemed happy, so a 4.
Round Up (this is like a big merry-go-round with high sides and you're strapped to them. it starts out spinning fast and then tilts high up to spin faster) You couldn't pay me enough to ride this one. I watched everyone's face while they rode and laughed. Wind is funny. 5 for humor and intensity.
Trabant (I'm not sure how to describe this one...take an upright ferris wheel, put it flat on the ground, and make it tilt and spin in weird ways. Go to the website and look at it) I rode this one and it was awesome! I feared for my stomach but alas, made it out okay. 5 for not making me throw up.
Scrambler (like eggs) This ride also did not make me throw up! It was lots of fun and Will and I make "whoo!" noises the whole time! 5!
Tilt-a-Whirl (a classic) 2 for not even being able to watch it without feeling sick.
Paratrooper (also like the ferris wheel, but tilted up and spins in a different way) I also loved this ride. Didn't throw up and rode it twice! 5!
Ferris Wheel (a wheel of ferris) I give it a 4 for giving me a mild panic attack when we were stuck at the top waiting for people to get on.
Flying Elephants (we called it the Dumbo ride) Will and I rode this while Lish and Joe rode the Skydiver. 3 for going up and down.
In between the rides we shopped for candy and ate at an awesome restaurant called Lindy's that was Victorian style. When I couldn't decide between soups, the waitress brought me a sample of both. We also equally split 3 different burgers. This place was REALLY good. The whole park was set up that way. There was an awesome Victorian coffee shop that we got mugs from and Will got flavored crickets from the candy store. We stayed until after the park closed at 7, the three of them with slight concussions and all. We stopped in Spokane for dinner (Will and I ate everything huckleberry. A huckleberry chicken wrap, huckleberry salad, and huckleberry lemonade) and then drove for 5 hours back to Seattle. We got back around 3am and slept at Lish and Joe's cause there was NO way we were driving back to Olympia. Sunday morning, Will and I awoke to Joe making awesome eggs and Lish juicing things in their AMAZING new juicer. We all drank juice that contained carrots, oranges, nectarines, apples, spinach, and maybe a couple of other things that I can't remember. It was damn good. We watched Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and left around 9 for Olympia.
