Reflections on Supernatural

When Supernatural ended, there was an explosion of meta about the show as a whole, from old and new fans alike. I also recently read this article on Vox about pandemic grief and fandom-related mourning. I've wanted to collect my thoughts for awhile, but the @marchmetamatterschallenge pushed me to start. I have often wondered how different my life would have been - not just my fannish life, but all of it - if I had started watching Supernatural before Merlin. As it was, I became a Merlin fan pretty much instantly on 22 September 2008, and that's been such a huge thing for me in all kinds of ways. Meanwhile, that Christmas in 2008 I was gifted the first three seasons of Supernatural and so began a long tradition of us binge-watching Supernatural every festive season. The thing is, I was madly into brother-slash back then, so I suspect I would have fallen just as deeply and instantly for this show if only I hadn't got into Merlin first.
