i don't know what to say about this. other than "this is so him." i get the sense of emotions pushed under the surface (maybe to avoid dealing with it) esp. this part: (He thinks of James, when his parents died. He thinks of his own father. He thinks of the three hours he spent, once, in the autumn, looking in the mirror.) like he doesn't quite know what to do with himself in a situation like that so he just hardens up and keeps going, like you said.
and that leads to epic deathly hallows-style meltdowns. ;D poor remus, so tragic.
(btw, i just noticed you ship 1x2, how awesome is that)
thank you bb! ♥ I don't know how much I actually agree with what I ended up writing (re: remus hardening), but it's a common trope, I guess, in OoTP-era S/R - WHICH IS WHY I AVOID IT MOSTLY. Up Hogwarts-Era!

I haven't read any Sirius/Remus fic for so long. This was so ... this is the reason that Sirius/Remus will always be my OTP. It gets you in the gut - this got me in the gut. The melancholy and the brief moments of happiness. <3
My thanks abounding for the wonderful synchronicity in this!
What I love best is the places where it's so clear how you've changed, as all writers do, into different precisions with time. The way certain phrases become more definitive, where just a year or two ago they may have been broached with hesitancy; and where a new, perhaps more terrifying thesis on uncertainty rises in their place.
Lovely, imochan, just devastatingly lovely. Not that I've ever seen you write anything but! <3
P.S. I am almost certain you will, at this rate of character insight, become Remus incarnate in your next life. :D I hope you're okay with monthly transformations of a monstrous nature!!!
You're so, so, always welcome (I can't tell you how much I miss you voice in all of this). Your constant dedication and critical eye have only gotten sharper and more conscious as time's gone on, I know from what I've seen (but honestly, been too intimidated to make much comment on), and I doubt there's anyone who's known my writing as long as you have - it's the biggest treat to have you notice so quickly, and in only one short piece, the exact thing that I've just started to realize in it myself (maybe a little injection of Fitzgerald into the Woolf, eh? ;))))) )

This is lovely, and very very sad.
I'm glad you're posting fic again. Nobody writes HP fic quite like you do. ♥
