Only you should decide whether or not you want to regain characteristics you've "lost." Its true, everyone changes with time. Determine what kind of a person you'd like to be, and strive for that.
I know I've changed immensely from 4 years ago, 1 year ago, and even within the past 4 months. That's because every experience makes me a teeny-tiny bit more mature, wise, and developed as a person [as with anyone else]. [I know, I'm rambling]. Just don't let anyone imply that you've "lost your identity". Only you decipher what your identity actually is; most of the time its for the better to just live your life fully, and not worry as to how you're supposed to be/act.
