his name is "Mafan" (which means Trouble in Chinese) which technically is close enough to devil. foreign devil is now used to refer almost exclusively to japanese and is not a good word.

the painting is a mongolian "day in the life of a mongolian yurt inhabitant" and yup, this is my apartment, I think its a cherry wood or something (at least, its kind of an almost red color)
