writing (or... more archiving) issues

So we all know I have about a billion short little one-offs about Bolger and Pearson and sometimes Rick when he finds his way in there written. And they're all sort of vaguely connected in the sense that most of them do take place in the proper canon universe and within my one particular headcanon. And there is a part of me that kind of wants to ( Read more... )

We need more animanga folks on AO3 period! We're running way behind a lot of the other categories, it's tragic! (by which to say yesssss post 'em there!)

I've posted thematically related drabbles and ficlets as chapters of a single work on AO3. (there's even a tag "Ficlet Collection"!) Or you could post 'em as parts of a series? Then you could keep rearranging the order however you like. And if you're worried about spamming the Archive you could always backdate 'em (if you import from lj they should backdate automatically) - it's what I did with all my fic (of course I am a bit ocd when it comes to organizing...)

(erm though I think lj imports might be broken on AO3 right at the moment - we've got a fix but I'm not sure it's gone live yet, so might want to wait a week or so ^^;)

I have been considering using the series thing on AO3 (I really should have used it for that one YGO fic of mine instead of just uploading it chaptered like I did on FF.net but I suppose it's fine the way it is) it doesn't quite solve the problem with putting stuff on FF.net because some of this I would like to have on both (even though I have massive issues with FF.net and their restrictive genre listing and the fact that the characters I'm writing about aren't in the list of searchable characters and ugh...) but it would at least be a start ( ... )

1) What is AO3, and

2) I could try and translate the Spanish fic for you? I know a bit, and I read it better than I speak it. XD

AO3 is short for Archive of Our Own. It's an alternative to FF.net that doesn't use advertising dollars to support itself so they don't have to worry about advertisers telling them what they can and can't allow in the archive. For example they do allow explicit fics there. And RPF. It also has a lot more freedom with formatting and various other incredibly useful features like posting works anonymously for... say a holiday fic exchange or something. (plus I love the hell out of their tagging system, I mean it. If you want to join at some point hit me up and I'll try to get an invite code)

I suppose you could try. I thought there was more but apparently there's only two (but that Spanish author is by far the most active one for 5Ds on this site.... seriously 41 stories, I've posted three and I think on top of that there's only another two that are in English XD)

Ooohhh, sounds interesting.

And I think I'll have a go at that fifty sentences fic "Fate/Destiny and Desire" tomorrow, when I'm more awake. XD

Hmm..you think I should post my 5D's fics on there? None of them are Faithshipping. :P Then again, that migth mean no one will want to read them...

So what? XD I guarantee you the stuff you write has more of a chance of being read than what I write. (and there is some Jack/Carly on there... most of it's Spanish again.... but one of the actual English fics has a side of it it seems) As such, go for it. The plain and simple fact is with only 41 fics it obviously needs more of everything. (and the poor GX section. It really needs more XD)

If you need an invite code, let me know.
