The Incident of the Spider at the Dinner Table

Sep 26, 2014 19:36

Tonight a spider appeared on our dinner table. Dad promptly killed it, but was holding it in his hand, and my sister freaked out, not wanting him to get it near her, which he found highly amusing. I told him he was acting like one of the little boys we babysit, doing something and then just sitting there, grinning, waiting to see people's reaction ( Read more... )

I'm still trying to contain the shrieking.

Whyyy? *whimpers*

(On a bright note: if Shelob's ever after me, I know who to call...)

ETA: I didn't think I had a good icon for this reply, but - hey, Dad kinda made a face like that right after he ate the spider. XD

Because Dad, that's why.

And yes. Yes that is a remarkably accurate depiction of his expression. (Although somehow I don't think Captain America would eat spiders just for the shock value. Then again, with Steve Rogers you can never be quiiiite as sure...)

He would so do the thing!!! Aaaand now I have this entire scene in my head where post-WS, protective!Bucky's-back Steve does this to Buck as a practical joke, and then of course protective!Bucky freaks out....

Ahaha, yessss. And then Steve would make that so-very-pleased face, because it would be a very familiar kind of protective!Bucky freakout - "STEVE! What were you THINKING?! Tell me you did not just do what I think you did."

I know, right?

Of course, we shouldn't be so surprised, given this is the same guy who fried up and ate a bunch of earthworms, just because the kids he was babysitting dared him to... Responsible adult, indeed.

Come to Minnesota! Dinner's on us! Partaking of arachnid appetizers is optional.

(Sadly, when we have guests Dad tends to be on Civilized Best Behavior, so dinner may not come with a show. *bg*)

Aww, now he's not going to want to come up here... Although, I suppose you can reassure him that we don't feed spiders to our guests, at least. XD

(Seriously, though, Dad was so pleased with himself...)
