Trials, Praise, and Miscellania

Well, we've still had some crazy/stressful happenings of late. Nothing too catastrophic, though. Heh, between the birds and the cats alone we've had quite a bit of drama going on... No trouble actually between the various species, though, ironically enough. Our primary problem with them at the moment is that one of our cats decided to go absolutely ( Read more... )

craziness, cats, karate, god's blessing, geekiness, *sighs*, editing, animals

Oh, poor Ro! *wants to huggle him, despite allergies* I hope Ella regains her sanity sometime soon...mean kitty to make her brother so miserable.

Hurrah for style guides! I know you've said before that this magazine has...issues. (Oh, man, and I literally DID type that out before I realized it was a dreadful pun...which of course means it must stay, but self-consciously. ;P) But anyway, I hope this straightens some of that out! LOL, and I totally understand what it is to get excited over little details such as the Oxford comma.... In fact, a friend of mine and I at school got into intense discussion on Wednesday with a fellow linguistics nerd about the merits of the Oxford comma. *giggles* Very awesome.

And oh, COOL, fighting with sticks! Soon you shall be like Teyla! :D

(Heh, and I really do wish you would share some of your cold weather.... Today it finally was only in the 60s here. *sigh* Methinks I'm ready for some real autumnal weather.... :P)

Poor Ro is just pathetic - we've been giving him lots of extra attention, but it just doesn't quite make up for having his sister mad at him. *huggles baby* Heh, "poor" Ella has decided that she's getting lonely now, and wants more attention too, but no one's feeling too sorry for her. :P

*giggles madly* Ha, yes, it is really just too accurate on many counts to say that this magazine has "issues". ;P I'm really, really hoping that the writers pay attention, and this solves some of those problems... He, I am just so partial to the Oxford comma, though. I know there are those who dislike it, but really, I think there are so many cases where it helps clarify sentences that would otherwise be unclear... *laughs* But oh yes, you know you're a nerd when you do have strong opinions on the subject. ;D ( ... )

Knives and swords are wonderful things, indeed. 'S why I've got a whole collection of them... My dad always says he feels sorry for any poor robber who chooses my room to break into. 'Specially since I've got Anduril hanging right next to the head of my bed... *bg*

He! Your icon totally cracks me up, btw. Love it! ;D

Anduril? I *want* Anduril...

Can you actually use it? Properly? *is very, very curious*

Heh, thanks. ;D

Hehe, can I use it? Weeell... This particular Anduril's intended more for display than battle - it might break if it hit anything too hard. However, it's very heavy, and would definitely do damage to a person anyway. (I actually heard a story a little while ago, about someone who foiled a robber by hitting him over the head with a display sword - sword broke, but definitely did enough damage to be effective anyway.) As for whether I've got the skills to use it properly... I haven't really done much with broadswords - the lessons I've had have been in fencing. :)

I'm really feeling sorry for poor Ro! *huggles lonely cat* I hope Ella will come to her senses soon!

Hehe, since a style guide must mean things are going to get less chaotic I can certainly understand that you're so happy about it. It's always quite difficult and frustrating to work in a chaotic environment, whatever one's work may be.

LOL! That sounds as if you're about to turn into Teyla and Ronan, only in one person. *g* I'm sure your new skills and knowledge will be very useful for writing, too. ;-)

I hope so too! *shakes head* Ella's decided now that she's getting lonely too, and wants attention - but at this point I really don't feel sorry for her at all. Crazy cat. :P

Mmm, I'm really helping that this style guide will bring some order to the chaos. Things have been getting so frustrating there, I keep saying that one of these days I'm gonna quit... But if this helps I will be very happy.

LOL! It's so funny, because most people who know me are completely shocked to find out all the warlike things I enjoy. I just really don't look or act like the kind of person who'd like that sort of thing! I don't think I'll ever have trouble getting my opponents to underestimate me. *bg* It does certainly provide a lot of interesting thoughts for writing, though... ;D

Knowing how much you love editing, things must really be bad there. :( I very much hope the style guide will help!

Hm, I think I just saw an armed-to-the-teeth plot-bunny headed your way... *unobtrusively hides tasty carrots in Cami's pockets* :D
