[A peaceful melody played on a panpipe can be heard through the journal, or by anyone who happens to be passing by House 52 this afternoon. Veteran residents may recognize this particular tune as one that Martel played on occassion during her stay in Luceti, but to Mithos it is simply the song his sister would play to comfort him all those many, ( Read more... )

That was beautiful.

[It isn't until after he comes back inside that he realizes the journal has broadcast the music across the network. He scowls slightly as he reads the written remark. That song is Martel's, and she played it just for him. It shouldn't be shared with the entire filthy world and all of its undeserving people.]

It is my sister's song.

[She'd feel horrible if she knew he considered it intrusive, and apologize profusely.]

She must have liked it a lot.

[And he...wouldn't think any better of her. Apologies fix nothing.]

Yes, she played it for me often.

[The last time went so well, it should be peachy now, right?

She won't say much of anything-she'll just be listening to it while she cooks at her home. The only notable sound emitting is that of, perhaps, the occasional soft, careful clinging of a pan or utensil.

It was strange, that such a violent boy was capable of making such delicate music. In fact, when she looked at who was actually accidently recording this, she was surprised-shocked, even.

But she was happy for that.]

[As he looks through his journal later, he notices the audio reply. But...there is no one speaking. Being the mistrustful, somewhat paranoid boy that he is, Mithos prefers to know who exactly is listening in on him. These cursed journals and their fondness for tuning into everything that does not need to be shared with the general populace...]

Who is there? [Sounding very imperial for someone so seemingly young.]

[She sighs inaudibly to herself-there goes the softness he'd been building up so well the last few minutes. There's a moment where she thinks about her fear, back then, and the ache that followed the next day.

Even so...

"Losing her... was something he could not accept."

She sets her work aside and replies in a cautiously soft voice:]

You're very good at playing that.

[He tenses when he hears her voice. That human woman, the one who apparently still hasn't learned that he wants nothing to do with her, or anyone else in this world for that matter. Her persistence is grating, like an itch beneath his skin that can't be reached. Her voice may be warm and gentle, but his is nothing but cold.]

Why are you talking to me? Don't you understand that I can't stand you?

[The forest happens to be Presea's favorite place in Luceti, and she was just filling her pack with bits of scrap wood to make carvings and charms with that the sound from afar - picked up by her heightened senses - makes her look up. That most certainly wasn't a natural sound of the forest...

Curious, and drawn in by the song, the girl approaches. She's donning her new jacket Taokaka gave to her, but the hood is down so she could see more clearly. That song didn't sound familiar, but there was an odd, comforting feeling she received from just listening to it.

Feel free to notice her approach, Mithos, Presea isn't exactly trying to stay hidden.]

[As Mithos continues to play, he sees movement from out of the corner of his eye. He pauses, the melody derailing in the middle of a phrase, and turns his head to appraise whoever approaches. To his great surprise and equally great displeasure, it is one from Lloyd's group. Presea. His eyes narrow and he climbs to his feet.]

What do you want?

[Rather unfortunately for Presea, she has absolutely no idea that she's just wandered into the proximity of a rather dangerous foe from her future. Instead, she keeps her distance - deterred by his stern voice and that look - and bows her head apologetically.]

My apologies...I did not mean to intrude. I was drawn to the song. You play very well.

[Her behavior is curious. Who apologizes to an enemy? That's what they are to each other. Mithos scowls at her comment. Why does everyone insist upon cloying into his precious memories of his sister? Don't they realize they are completely unwelcome?]

Why are you apologizing? You already destroyed Martel, everything I worked for, everything she wished for.

[Shiki was just flipping through the journal when she picks up on the song Mithos is playing. Not that she recognizes it as Martel's or anything, but it's really kind of pretty. And because Shiki believes in giving compliments...]

That was really good.

[Music is pretty important to Kaori, coming from a people based completely around it. So she's been listening quietly, reading the emotions from the tune, but the breath that carried it seemed so sad... Once he's done the girl will speak up softly, naturally being cautious around someone who carried such emotions.]

... You miss someone...

[The remark catches him off guard. How can someone infer that just from listening to the song? It's like she can read his thoughts, his heart, and he doesn't like that at all. It makes him feel so...vulnerable.]

....My sister. [His reply is hesitant, extremely mistrustful of whoever is on the other end.]

[And she would not blame him one bit for that mistrust. She feels the same way about the villagers to some extent, and though their situations are different, she can relate to somewhat.]

I'm sorry if I'm assuming things, but... you haven't seen her in a while, have you? [Judging on the amount of sadness she hears.]
