Podfic?

Unfortunately, this is yet another post without fic, but I'm thinking about a few projects so hopefully sometime soon there'll be more of stuff of that nature! However, as writers block continues to plague me, I am finding myself doing other stuff that doesn't involve writing but is still related to the fandom - podfic and vids, mainly

There's no such thing as enough podficcers! Much less too many. :-)

Podficcing is incredibly satisfying, but also time-consuming. Most of us put in something like six hours of work for every hour of finished podfic. The actual reading is fun and creatively rewarding. Editing... is slow and tedious, and takes far longer than the actual reading. But it's so awesome to post a finished product.

OTOH... you do have to be prepared for the vast feedback desert that is the world of podfic. Readers get less feedback (by orders of magnitude) than any other content producers in fandom. You have to find your own reward in the doing of it, because you don't get the feedback "paycheck."

Don't let me discourage you! It's fun and rewarding. Dip your toes in and give it a try. :-)

Good lord, I can see how it would be time consuming what with editing and all that. I haven't written anything (fanfic at least) that would time to even close that length.

I love acting and I love storytelling so I feel like it would be a really fun thing for me to do. But I don't want it to just sound like a recording of me acting out read lines though...did one last night and I suddenly realized that without even knowing it, I had totally become Ray Kowalski...heh.

Well, I don't get THAT much feedback anyways because I'm relatively new around here, atrociously inactive, and I'm clueless when it comes to advertising myself, heh. So I don't think that would be much of an issue for me. I think the biggest reward would be in doing it well.

I don't listen to a lot of podfics, but if I had a cool computer that could do it well, I'd start podficing, probably, just to see if I could read a fave fic well.

I've listened to a few - mostly fic read by the author. I don't know why, I just find that sort more compelling.

Right!!! It's sort of fun to see what you can do. Mildly embarrassing just talking to a computer, but also fun when you start really getting into the story hehe.
