KC people, talk to me about light rail? Every time I think I've made up my mind, I read something that changes my mind. ( I've got two different opinions all at once. )

I love the idea about the light rail myself, it would be GREAT for Kansas City, but I don't think this is the right time. Especially with how our economy is right now... it would just hurt us more right now. :| It's almost certainly not going to pass, there are too many people worried about the economy right now to let a billion dollar light rail plan pass.

I guess that's where I'm torn--it seems like it's catch-22. It's not the right time because we're all broke, but light rail would raise property value and create jobs and possibly make us less broke in the long run. We can't afford it until after we get it! *facepalm*

I did read some interesting information about bus systems in general, though--ours are pretty much decrepit and it costs too much to fix them. Possibly, light rail could use better, longer-lasting technology, along with reducing emissions and travel time.

I think I'm back to leaning towards voting for it, but we'll see what happens between then and now. *dies*

This is true and why I would vote for it, but the light rail won't be finished or even working for years and years. Not to mention they don't even know where it goes. The damn light rail bill should have been past years ago... they've just picked a horrible time to do it e_e
