This place only seems to get more charming.

We're going to the CES to read your file. In about.. five minutes time. Do be ready.

[Private to Rose]
No one objected to my taking you to the CES. How's tomorrow for you?

[Private to Capa]
Doctor Crane doesn't want you reading his file. I apologize for the confusion.

You know, you're seriously impairing my ability to spend my time how I want to. [Namely lurking in his room.]

[Crane was aware that Eames was matching his pace, but just interpreted as Eames trying to be civil. He sighed slightly before beginning to explain his reasoning on the warden topic.] I haven't had a real warden in a significant amount of time. I'm overdue for being reassigned.

[He paused for a second before continuing, looking intently at the ground as he walked.] Of course, that's based on the assumption that the Admiral actually wants me to graduate.

[Eames actually stopped, putting a hand firmly on Crane's shoulder to stop him as well and to encourage the inmate to look at him. It was obvious to anyone who paid attention how often Crane had been abandoned and how much that fact upset him.]

"The Admiral's a faceless git who I'm fairly convinced doesn't want anything except entertainment. It's not your fault you haven't had a good warden, Jonathan, and it's not fair to you either, but we're not all bad." [His tone was entirely serious, void of any potential humor or mocking.]

[Crane tensed, but didn't pull away. Aside from Rose and the occasional personal space invasion from Eddie, people didn't normally touch him. It wasn't something that Crane particularly liked.]

Only the vast majority of you. [Crane was aware that there were some wardens who didn't seem overly malicious. Just misguided, in terms of what he would consider could psychological treatment.] Besides, if you don't agree with the Admiral's methods, you can always leave.

[Eames didn't move his hand, nor did he move his gaze. His fingers could feel Crane tensing, but the fact that the inmate hadn't simply pulled away was a good sign in the warden's mind. His tone was the same as before.]

"Do you consider me one of the bad ones?" [Then, in a slightly more lighthearted tone:] "I don't want to leave; I'm rather enjoying this little vacation."

[Crane gave Eames a long look, still not moving away from him. He was starting to feel even more awkward.]

You haven't killed anyone yet. That's a start. [Crane still held a significant grudge against Paddy for that.] Although I have to doubt the sanity of anyone who enjoys being on the barge.

"It's only for moments like these." [Eames flashed a grin, finally dropping his hand away from Crane's shoulder. Then he continued walking down the hall, nearing the stairs. His other hand still held the thin briefcase with both files in it.] "Why would I stay at home and be liked when I could stay here and be hated?"

[Crane followed after Eames. It was a significant relief to no long have Eames touching you.]

I never said that I hated you. [Crane paused, somewhat awkwardly.] At least no more than everyone else.

"Ahh, then you still hate me, don't you?" [Eames liked trying to force Crane into corners where the man either said what he truly felt or was entirely heartless. It was a good thing Crane usually opted for the former, even if it wasn't always the case.]

I'm getting there. [Crane said, crossing his arms. He didn't like how Eames kept on a topic until he got a solid answer. Crane was used to people on the barge not digging particularly deep.] Although reading the file will probably help my mood.

"Your mood doesn't bother me much. As I've said, you remind me of a friend."

[Fastforwarding~.]

[The two arrived at the CES without incident, primarily not speaking. As they approached the warden door, Eames did the same slip of the poker chip as always, letting the door open and then flashing it out of sight again. In truth, Eames kept more than one chip up his sleeve in case someone went looking for his item, and it would be hard to tell which was which unless they knew what to look for. He had forged chips specifically to look like his item which, at present, read Crane's name.]

"After you."

[Crane looked at Eames, before shrugging and stepping into the CES. He stopped dead as soon as he was in there. He'd been expecting the forest again, not something so beach like. It wasn't particularly hot, but that didn't make Crane any more amused at the choice of location.]

Not what I had been expecting. [Crane said, assuming that Eames would have followed him through.]

[Eames followed Crane in, then walked past the man when he stopped, beginning to walk along the beach with his free hand casually in his pocket. The sand would be horrible for his shoes, but he could simply request more from the Admiral, so he wasn't entirely worried.] "What were you expecting?"

[The warden was already seeking out a place to settle down and look into Crane's file, aiming for the moderately-sized collection of rocks to go sit on. He trusted Crane to follow.]

Something less sandy. [Crane hesitated before following Eames. The beach was not a place that he'd liked visiting before. The sand problem only made it worse, but he did slowly follow Eames. At least Eames seemed to be walking towards the rocks instead of just staying on the sand.]

Someone could end up in open ocean out here one day. [Crane said under his breath. If it was him, that would be horrible. If it were anyone else, it would probably be quite amusing.]

"I hope it's us, then. Good experience." [Eames smiled, not glancing back to Crane as he finished making his way to the rocks. It was too easy and enjoyable to provoke the inmate at times, so long as he never pushed it too far. Crane was much like Arthur in that regard.

Taking a seat on one of the larger rocks, the warden settled in. He lifted the briefcase into his lap, rolling the digits into place: 528. The view was obscured from Crane intentionally. Eames removed the two stacks and immediately closed the briefcase, changing the numbers to 232 with relative ease as he set it aside.]

"I've gotten you a file, as promised, but I'm afraid I can't let you keep it in your room. You'll be able to read it and it will be available to you at any time in my room. I doubt the security of your room and I'm not allowing anyone else to get a hold of this. Do you understand?"
