I noticed that the formatting on mine is messed up, too. I'm actually really annoyed about that, because if that's the version that reviewers are reading, it's going to hurt contestants. Hell, it's going to annoy people who read our excerpts. I thought about posting an excerpt on my website, but I'm pretty sure that's not allowed. I hope they fix their PHP soon.

I got your tweet on Twitter (I'm @elizabethbarone there). The Key Dates page says "Amazon customers can download, rate, and review Excerpts on Amazon.com, providing feedback to Penguin Editors about submissions [emphasis mine]," which I take to mean that they do partially consider customer reviews. However, in the FAQ they say "the Semi-Finalists will be determined by ranking each Quarter-Finalist Entry based on the average Judging Criteria score given to each Quarter-Finalist Entry by Publishers Weekly." The FAQ right before that one says that Amazon customers can vote for the Grand Prize winner during the finals. Needless to say, I'm still confused about customer ratings ( ... )

Hi there!

Amazon posted today in the discussion threads that they are aware of the formatting problem and are hoping to have it fixed today. Someone else claimed that the full manuscripts rec'd by the reviewers at PW--did not have those formatting issues. *fingers crossed*
