revelations about writing

I've been in a funk for weeks about my writing, because I felt like I forgot how. Or something broke. I have no idea, but I've been producing weird stilted prose and I've felt like I couldn't get the right perspective to write. It's like there is a specific place you need to stand distance wise from the story--almost like those little arrows you ( Read more... )

Yes. That's how you paint or draw too. Having the right creative distance is so key and I've never thought about it in terms of writing, but it makes a lot of sense.

I get that way about almost all my skills at strange points. Refresh, renew, recharge...restart!
