GODDAMN, WHAT I WOULD FUCKING GIVE FOR THAT WORD COUNT!
And here I was, patting myself on the back for having made it to 2,000 words at Day Five! LOL @ ME.
Way to go! You're doing great. I wish I could crank out the words the way you do. Would you ever be interested in exchanging work sometime? I love swapping critiques for critiques! :)
Hey! You should be proud! I'm only doing so great because I've got nothing but time on my hands. You've gotten 2k written in spite of everything going on in your life. I don't have anything going on in my life. ;p
It really depends on what we're swapping. I'd be up for it, but I should come with a warning label. If it's not already complete, I can't keep my interest up from one chapter to next if I have to wait for them. I could do a first chapter critique, since that's basically what we did in in a class I took. I work better with a deadline otherwise it'll languish on my computer with the promise of reading it 'later.' And I'm better at critiquing fantasy over anything else.
What did you want to swap? Thick as Blood or did you want to start off with something smaller like the short story I'm considering? I need to get over my fear of critique, so have a critiquing partner would be wonderful!
Don't worry, I'm totally the same way... A swap probably wouldn't happen for a while (and I'd only want it to happen after my manuscript's complete -- ahem, I'M ON CHAPTER TWO!).
But yes! Novel for novel would be ideal. I'm better with critiquing novel-length works than short stories.
And I'm totally in the same boat. I need to get over my fear of critique and just EMBRACE the negative feedback, because God knows IT. WILL. COME.
Six months? Sounds good! That'll be enough time for me to feel good about making this deal, then regret it, then try to figure out a way to politely get out of it, and then accept it. ;p
And then there's my five stages of criticism: denial, angry denial, grudging denial, depressed denial, acceptance. LOL, at least I make it to acceptance now!
