Day 15: 25k
This has just been the hardest, most frustrating day of writing I've ever experience. Or at least this June. It took me about 4 hours to write 1k. Usually I can write 1k in two 15 minute writing session. Thirty minutes turned into 4 hours. So frustrating. It doesn't help that my characters are boring, or at least my point of view ( Read more... )

Keep going! I hope that it starts getting easier for you soon.

And I'm not sure I'd have been able to keep going, being that stuck for four hours. :/ I admire your determination!

Thanks! I really appreciate your words of encouragement. Today wasn't so bad and I hoping to pick up the pace soon.

I don't know how I was able to keep going. Thanks go to my sister. She had to do homework for an online class, so we both just sat at the kitchen table with our laptops and didn't leave until everything was completed. I don't think I'd have the discipline without someone to hold me accountable. I was really happy to have it done though. My bar graph on the camp stats page has been at or above the line all month and I'm really hoping to keep it that way.

How has writing been for you lately?

Not as well as I would like, unfortunately. I think something's missing. I have over 10K, and it feels bland. The characters are great, I have it all outlined out and the setting is perfect but the writing is missing it's usual spark. :/ I've abandoned it for the time being in the hopes that I can start all over and put that spark back in. But I might work on a different novel for awhile in the meantime.

Oh, no. I'm really sorry to hear that. I understand when sometimes you're just not feeling it, especially when you anticipate that you're going to love it.

While procrastinating, I found this article on the nano sites about giving yourself ten minutes a day, http://lifehacker.com/5892576/getting-started-is-everything. It's not specifically about writing, but I think it's a good idea I want to try on particular stories that are giving me difficulties. If I can devote ten minutes a day, then I think I'll feel pretty productive.

I hope whatever story you're working on can be wrestled into submission and that you have fun doing it!
