LJ Idol Season 8, Week 33, The Call That Never Came

Jul 06, 2012 20:10

If you had asked me at age eighteen where I’d be when I was thirty-four-years-old, as I am now, I would have had it all planned out. I’d be married and have a few kids. I’d hoped to own a farm where I would give riding lessons to people with disabilities. I’d be doing serious fundraising and grant writing so that I could expand my programs to ( Read more... )

Love this post! What do they say? "Life is what happens when you're busy making plans". Ain't that the truth!

And I loved where you wrote : To help normal people, and those who might be a little crazy like me, improve their lives.

That post had power behind it - thanks.

Thanks. I like that saying. It's so true.

I figure I better learn to be optimistic about the future.

I think about that a lot too, how our dreams change. Like I'm a parent, but I thought I'd be all baking, setting up creative science and art activities, growing a vegetable garden, etc. But in reality I'm just happy if I get home from work, have some play time with my child and get him a bath. I bake him special muffins once a month. LOL

We're so idealistic when we're young... yet the adult reality isn't necessarily disappointing either...

It'd be nice with the baking and the veggie garden and all that, but I'm sure you're raising him just fine regardless. I admire moms that can balance work and parenting just as much as I admire stay at home moms that homeschool or bake, or do whatever.

It sure is funny what dreams we have as kids that don't pan out.

Thanks. I still can't believe how long it took me to get my current job. If it weren't for this job though, I wouldn't be headed in the direction I'm heading.

Every day we get to change our minds about something. It doesn't make what we did before go to waste. Our life's experiences give us what we need to move forward. Sometimes we have to be looking back to realize it. When you get that degree in psychology, remember all the good work you are doing now, that helped get you there.
Very good entry!
