LJ Idol, Season 8, Week 6, Food Memory, Fish

I was three-years-old and running free through the trees and into the open area of our camp site. The air smelled fresh and clean like mountain air would. Then suddenly I was falling and there was fish. Scales everywhere. I was drowning in them, in my mouth, on my face, tangled in the fish and trying to free myself. It's amazing how strong childhood memories and aversions can be.

I'm not all that fond of fish but it's not for as "good" a reason as you have.

For many, many years I could not eat egg rolls though as I got very sick once after eating one.

I'm sad for your experience but I do really like how you wrote your entry. I felt like I was there (to use a cliche, but it fits!)

I love egg rolls. I can't eat those cup of soup things that you add water to after getting sick eating one and then getting a week long stomach bug. I also went off popcorn for a year or two when I got sick eating it because of my medication.

Some childhood memories are so vivid.

I'm glad you liked it. I wasn't sure if the story would fit the topic well enough.

I don't like fish either. It's the smell... I won't go into it. :)

Good entry, but I'm sorry that writing it made you feel sick!

I like shrimp best in seafood. Lobster sux. Still, a good old fashioned Fish-on-a-bun sandwich, like what schools used to serve every Friday wins me every time. AW

Yep, there is always a pill if I need anything from fish, but I'm scared to take fish oil pills because I hear you can burp them.

Wow, great entry! Fish, yuck! There are several people I know that do not care for fish.
