After she'd put the finishing touches on her essay for Spy Tech, Mac set about making the spare bed up for Jake. Fortunately she's the ultra prepared type and has spare blankets and pillows. The second bed in her room seems to get more use now than it did even when Syd was there

Cally knocked on the door, all sad and stuff.

"Yup. Come on in," Mac called, closing her laptop as she got up.

Cally opened the door and shambled into the room, letting the door shut behind her.

"I need a hug," she said.

Mac's face fell, because that as an opening line really didn't sound like this was going anywhere in the vicinity of good. She didn't even ask why she needed it, just immediately went over to give Cally a tight hug.

Jake showed up at Mac's door carrying a bag in one hand, and holding onto a coffee machine with the other. He knocked on the door with some difficulty. "Mac?"

Mac wandered over to open the door, a little sombre after Cally's visit earlier. She managed a little smile for Jake, anyway. No reason to make someone who's already sad feel even worse.

Thoughts of that were kind of muted when she noticed what he was carrying. "Wow, coffee machine," she blurted. Excellent greeting, right there.

Jake gave her a quick grin. "It's mine. I'm keeping it. Do you have any place to put it?"

Mac huffed a laugh, and gestured to what used to be Syd's side of the room. "You've got Syd's old desk and cuboards and stuff for whatever you so desire to do with them for the next little while."
