It's all or nothing.

So I got the job.

Thinking about it just makes me feel all giddy! I know it's not exactly an amazing job, and the pay is rubbish, but it's a job. I will finally get to meet people and hopefully make friends, develop some sort of structure in my life, and do something productive. Plus, it's only 25 hours per week so I can hopefully find some ( Read more... )

Congratulations!! :D What I would've done was gone to the interview anyway and then maybe see if you could squeeze some more money out of them by saying "well, I've accepted X's offer and I start on N, are you willing to make a better offer?" Then if they did you could take that and such. I say this only now because after my interview experience (all, like, one of them) it's all about being you need ME i don't need YOU. (Even though that's not the case). It doesn't matter now anyway, what's done is done! And I am soooo proud of my wifey! Where abouts in Sheffield is it?

Thanks Wifey! And thanks for your encouraging messages, they helped :)

I wouldn't have been able to squeeze more money out of them, both jobs are funded by the government so they're both minimum wage and they're set! I thought about going for an interview anyway, but if the job's the same then I'd just be wasting their time and I don't really fancy having to go through all that stress again if it's not necessary!

It's in S8, further than Graves Park, so it's actually closer to Dronfield than Sheffield city centre!

Though it was mainly the fact you are a wonderful person that did it :D

Ah, then knowing that you did the right thing. Still, the more interviews you have the easier they get, right? Maybe? At least you've got your foot in the door now.

Ah ok. So it's not even suggestible that you could walk there. Is there a tram stop near? It could work out faster for you to walk to Uni and take the tram then walk from the tramstop if you need to take two busses. I would suggest cycling, but cycling in Sheffield = having a death wish.

Ed and I walked there on Sunday so I could figure out exactly where it was, and it took us 2 hours! At the moment I'm getting a bus into town and then another bus that goes straight to the school.

The other options I found involve shorter bus journeys that cut across rather than going the long way through town, but more walking. And they both still involve 2 buses. Basically, they'll probably take the same amount of time. It's all the waiting in between that makes it so long.

The tram would take longer 'cos it'd take 20 minutes to walk to the University, then I'd have to get the tram to Herdings Park and still have to get a bus to the school. POOP.

It wouldn't be too bad if I could read on the bus, but I get car sick.... so no. I'll have to think of something else I can do. Or learn to drive.
