[And so it seems the Malnosso have finished whatever experimentation they had planned for the renegade Time Lord this time around. Oddly enough, he doesn't seem to be all that put off. He's made it down from the mountains with nary a scratch. All that seems off is that he appears a little lost and confused - like someone trying to find their way

[After all the time of searching, this is the last place Jack had expected to actually find the Doctor. Yet there he is, looking only a bit tired and hardly any worse for the wear, sitting slumped against the apartment building. (Jack doesn't want to think about who lives there...)]

Doctor!

[He kneels beside him, reaching out carefully to touch his shoulder.] Are you all right? Are you hurt? Can you move at all?

Jack, I assure you, I'm perfectly fine. Nothing to worry about! Just a small headache. Nothing a couple painkillers won't fix, anyway.

I can move just as well as you can. It doesn't seem like they did anything to my body. Both hearts are in proper place as well. No harm done.

Really, Jack, I'm all right. I'm always all right. Whatever they did it certainly wasn't enough for any lasting damages. You've no need to worry so much.

[The Doctor reaches out to pull Jack firmly against him.] It's okay. Everything is fine. Everything will be fine.

[Jack returns the embrace easily, holding the Doctor close. It's obvious there's something far deeper wrong, just from the way the Doctor is speaking. He's far too blatantly happy... it's forced. There's also the fact that the Doctor is embracing him like this in public and is still fairly clinging to him...]

You're right. Everything will be fine. [He rubs the Doctor's back lightly, then strokes his fingers through his hair.] Let's get you back to the house, okay? I'll make you some tea, you can take some painkillers, and lie down for awhile. You'll feel better, I'm sure.

But...Ah- I....don't know? [He cocks his head to one side and looks the building up and down.] Something tells me I kind of rather like it over here. Maybe I should stay.

Hm. The house does sound rather tempting, though. Let's get our options out where we can see them, shall we? We've got: sit in front of this building for who knows how long in the sunlight. You never know what may come from it other some, well, sunburn I suppose. Anyway! So yes, that's option one. We stay over here and keep on a lookout.

The other one being that we should head back to the house. Also not a bad idea in the slightest. The house is comfortable. There's lots of remedies for pain and nerves. A right old place to cool off and calm down.

Well...Hm. I suppose the better option would be to go back to the house. Come on, Captain. [He takes his hand and gives it a squeeze.] Allons-y!

Buffy! Well if there's a voice I'm always happy to hear. How are you?

[The cheerful meter has broken past a million.]

Worried. [Pause.] Please tell me they sent you back in one piece?

So far as I can tell! Nothing appears to be missing, and I've still got my wits about me. What're you so worried for? It's going to take more than that to do any lasting damage to someone like me, I can assure you.

Dad! Well, you certainly sound like you're alright, but I'm inclined to ask if everything is as it should be. You okay?

What is it with people and asking me if I'm alright today? I've been getting these looks. What? I'm perfectly fine! Seems like they'll have to try harder next time to get to me. Your dad doesn't go down that easily!

Are you back at the house? They've given me the parts I need to finish your birthday present.

Well, it is usually the right question when people return from a kidnapping from the Malnosso.

Yeah, I'm at the house for the moment, and what birthday present? [You've really peaked her curiosity now, Doctor.]

Well, I can assure you, I am perfectly all right. No harm done.

Anyway, I've got the missing parts and will be there shortly, then. I know you already have a dog, but I do think you'll quite like this. It'll be of great help once you're free from here and off on your own adventures.

[Timey senses and the Doctor's voice on the journals. The Master had been taking a break from searching, scent cold and all that--though he is not giving up--and now he's alert again. The Doctor is back. Although he's not entirely sure what he wants to do about that. He wasn't in it to save him, not really. And the Doctor sounds fine now. Still...it would be worth it to discover what exactly the Malnosso tend towards. Research.]

[Yeah, the Doctor is frighteningly cheerful today. More so than normal. As if he totally had not just been abducted or anything. No, not at all.]

Oh, nothing! Nothing at all! I'm perfectly fine. Suppose they just wanted to do some basic behavioral observations. [Lies.]

[Blink and frown on this side, unobservably. The Master stands up from his desk and walks out of his flat and down the stairs. The Time Lord signature is really strong because it just started occurring again.]

Did they? That's lucky.

[The Doctor will just be all... splayed across the steps. They are oddly comfortable, and cool in the summer heat. Idiot doesn't seem to want to take off the coat. So step-splaying it is.]

Quite right. Could've been worse - a lot worse. Least I'm back all in one piece!
