So it's September 1st and I am NOT moving, thank GOD. This will be the first time I have ever lived in one place for more than a continuous year since I graduated from high school (I suppose I lived in one dorm room two years in a row, but I had to move out for the summer and then back in, so it doesn't count). Though I didn't live here over the ( Read more... )

Hooray for not moving! As much as I liked the Dorms, that was what I hated: the constant moving. I am glad you are able to not move this year.

How's Ubuntu treating you?

Ubuntu is great. I had very fortunate timing too, because since then Windows has downloaded an update that didn't go over very well and I can't even get into it anymore. No good. But I do really like Ubuntu--fast and clean and easy to use. Yay, my computer actually acts like the new-ish computer it is!

Huzzah! I'm glad it's going well. I like it for its cleanliness as well... it also takes me back to when I had to tinker a bit more to get some things to work, heh. I also like it when computer work as users expect them to.

Sorry to hear 'bout your borked windows installation. You'll probably have to restore to an earlier point in time to fix it. It works more often in Vista than I expected it to, but is still a pain.

What I think is interesting is that you and my New Super Techie Co-worker both refer to Ubuntu as an OS you have to tinker with more to get it to work, and yes, I realize that that's what it's supposed to be, but I LOVE it because it requires SO MUCH LESS tinkering than Windows did when I gave up on Windows. Maybe I should just start over with stupid Vista if I ever decide to fix it, because it was like blue-screening all over the place and taking forever to load anything...ugh. Such a pain in my ass.

Anyway. Thanks for your help on this whole process.
