i figured that before i launch my newest 'epic' of sorts, sinces the crossovers include characters not everyone may know about, i'd make a couple reference posts: one for the characters of Conviction (god rest it's soul) and the other for CSI:NY. so this is the one for Conviction:
Timeline-wise, i think i'm going to start writing them at the end of the last respective seasons (season 1 for Conviction, season 2 for CSI:NY) Which makes the Brian/Christina relationship canon. i'm not just putting it there because i want it to be there. Also, this is a lot of my interpretation of their character, and it's going to be how I'm going to write them. You may watch it and see something different, but this would be more helpful in reading my fic.
ADA Billy Desmond is a good attorney, but his focus is always on one thing: his record. He doesn't like to lose a case, and if he feels he's going to, he's likely to either pull out and make a deal, or push it off onto someone else. He's more politically oriented than the rest of the ADAs, and doesn't intend on being a lawyer forever. He wants to go into politics, and sees the DA's office as a way of getting him there.
Christina Finn is your typical country girl next door. Originally from Wisconsin, she came to the New York DA's office with the naive ideals of wanting to do some good in the big city. Althought there are moments when the life of the city seems to overwhelm her, she does her best to keep her chin up and her optimism as well, and she usually pulls through in the end. For all intents and purposes of this work, she is currently involved with her fellow ADA, Brian Peluso.
ADA Brian Peluso takes his work and his cases very seriously. It's everything else that throws him for a loop. A playboy in every sense of the word, he tends to spend his nights getting drunk, getting laid, and then sneaking out the back door as quietly as possible, praying they'll never call him. He lives on Red Bull and coffee, and has a slight gambling problem, but it's nothing serious (as far as the show implied before they cancelled it *shakes fist*). He holds the law in the highest regard, and even if it means he's going to lose is case, if, for example, he's aware of a witness lying on the stand, he will bring it to the judge's attention. As stated before, for all intents and purposes, he's seeing his fellow ADA, Christina Finn.
ADA Nick Potter is in every sense the 'baby' ADA. Recently having transferred over from his uncle's wealthy law firm, he's looking to help people rather than harm them. He tends to have his naive moments, he generally does his job well, but he's still adjusting to life on the other side of the aisle. He's a quick learner, and despite the inital hazing, he gets along well with the rest of his co-workers. Most of the time. For all intents and purposes...I'm pondering writing him with Angell...any opinions?
ADA Jessica Rossi, in my opinion, is a disaster waiting to happen. She's a tough woman, but she's still very fragile. While she tries to remain detatched from her cases and do her job, she can't. She empathizes very strongly with the victims, and will argue a case to the point of death, it seems, regardless of what her boss, or even the judge tells her to do, and will rarely ever offer a deal. She's very emotional, no matter how hard she tries not to be, and when a case doesn't go the way she plans for a victim, it breaks her heart. For all intents and purposes, she's been involved in a on again, off again relationship with hero!Flack.
Jim Steele is...something else. His life is his work, and although he does have interests outside the office, he tends to put work first. He's not very invested in relationships (mostly because he's still in love with a woman he can't have) but he does like sex. Quite a bit. So he ropes himself into a series of relationships that are purely for that purpose, and often times the girl winds up getting very hurt in the end, because despite the fact that she claimed she had wanted the same thing to begin with, she really didn't. In the courtroom, which is where he lives, basically, he's very aggressive, and very territorial. He rarely ever will let his second chair help him on a case, unless they're able to stand up to him and present their argument in a way to sway him. (For this reason, I happen to think that Finn is his favorite ADA. He just won't admit it.) For the intent of this work...I'm pairing him with Stella. Because i think they'll be interesting to write.
