[Anna does not sleep much at all, and it is the undercurrent of fear, well known to her, that sees her looking up at her portal on the dash of her car. She isn't sure what she's seeing at first, but then:]
[She had watched a woman try to flense off her own skin to remove the bugs she was always hallucinating. There is a not of sickness in Anna's stomach, tension and fear. She may be wearing the necklace Kelly had given her, but she is not immune from fear.]
Where are you. Tell me now.
[The girl is going to poison herself, and Anna can't have that. Not again. She can't watch them die again.]
[She has already turned the key in her car, spurring it into motion. There is a shotgun in the passenger seat beside her where Lucie is no longer sitting. Nothing is going to harm her.]

[Think what you like, Ariadne, she is coming, she will kick down your front door, and the one into your bedroom as well. She has her shotgun, and a bandanna tied rather haphazardly over her nose and mouth. She is ready for whatever lies beyond.]

[ There is nothing there, of course, nothing but hallucinations of projections, but Anna is flesh and blood and therefore all the more frightening, and Ariadne screams and throws a can of pesticides at her because it's all she has and she can't think to dream up anything else. ]

[She is startled for a moment, the find the room empty, barely react quickly enough to lift her elbow and block that can from hitting her in the face.
All she can think is that the girl had a nightmare, had poisoned herself into hysteria with those chemicals. Her eyes go to the window, and she hurries to it to pry it open and get some fresh air in here.]

[She's startled by the scream, looks back at Ariadne in confusion, but... there is nothing there. She needs to get this window open. She leans the shotgun against the wall to free up her hands, and shoves the window pane up as quickly as she can. The fresh air that rushes in his a relief.]
It is all right.
[She repeats this, firmly. She leaves her gun by the wall as she approaches the girl, her hands outstretched harmlessly, steps slow.]

[ She doesn't understand, and it's fear and confusion on her face now, the fall air making her shiver. She's dressed for bed, in a t-shirt and tight shorts, not for October air. ]

[Anna shakes her head. No, she cannot see them, but she is used to that. She has seen horrible things of her own, hallucinations. She had entered Promenade thinking the city was merely a figment of her broken mind.]
I understand that you can, and that they frighten you, but you must trust me.

[ She doesn't want to. She doesn't want to feel pain -- death would wake her up drop her into Limbo be too quick, and she wouldn't escape. But pain is in the mind, pain is real, and if this woman is a projection...
Stop, you'll choke yourself.

[ She's frantic, absolutely convinced that they're going to crawl up the chair, that the chemicals she's using are the only thing keeping her safe. ]

[ She hears another thud outside the door, and for a moment her spraying pauses as she turns her head, eyes wide. ]
But they're out there, they'll kill you--

Watch out!
