[The first thing the PORTAL will show, upon transmitting, is the outside of the Magic Box. The dust and grime and cracks have been cleared away inside and out. The windows are clean and the inside of the shop seen through them is livable, well lit, and...more than a little cluttered. Someone's been busy, busy turning an empty husk into a working ( Read more... )

It's like Sunnydale just totally picked up and moved to crazy dreamland. [ She smiles. ] Let me know if you want a hand with anything, okay?

I...think I have everything sorted. And, with any luck, this won't be a repeat of opening day when I first picked up the place. [He pulls a chair up to the desk, enough to be seen by the PORTAL's camera. He looks happy.] But I'll keep that in mind, Buffy, thank you.

Maybe it'll be even more livelihoody than it was then! I mean, with all the people from whatever crazy offshoot universes they're all from? Big witchy business could ensue. Then maybe hi-jinx. [ Grins. ] Mind if I swing by?

Well, that was rather why I thought things might be a bit quieter. Magic and the like can probably get along just fine without me and my efforts.

In the interim? Of course I don't mind.

[ Doctor Uremovic witnesses the display, choosing not to respond through impersonal means via telephone. Instead, she prepares herself in civilian dress and makes her way out into the city publicly for the first time in quite awhile. Once she's arrived, she steps into the shop, merely ignoring the bell on the door and taking her own stroll about, viewing the merchandise. ] Impressive. [ But her happy guise does not last long. She clears her throat expectantly, stepping up to the counter, and noting the missing mask. Adjusting her own, perhaps a little less subtly than she could, she finally speaks. ]

And why is it, Mister Giles, that you feel no need to wear your mask, even as the sun shines down upon our city?

[Giles does look up at the sound of the bell, although he says nothing. If Doctor Uremovic doesn't want to say anything to him, he's hardly the one to interrupt her musings, barring a faint smile at her apparent opinion of his collection. In fact, he'd actually gone back to reading by the time she chose to address him more directly.

He looks up in polite surprise at her words. The shock of her sudden change of mind is too great to immediately allow anything else.

When it fully sinks in what she's said? That's a different matter. He tries to keep the defensive edge out of his voice, and...mostly succeeds.]

I'm not out in the streets. I'm in a place that is very definitely mine.

I thought such places were an exception.

Oh, that maybe be true for the majority of places, yes... [ She walks, menacingly, around the counter with her hand dragging over the surface. ] This is a business, is it not? Wherein the public can present themselves to make purchases?

This is a business, yes.

[He forces himself not to look over at the crossbow.]

I would still hardly call it "public". "The public" can go in and out of a private residence, at the discretion of its owner. The same holds true here.

[A magic shop, huh? Riku can't help but wonder if it's anything like a moogle store - he sure could always use some extra potions. Well, it certainly won't hurt asking.]

Hm.. What kind of items do you sell?

Magic. Defining otherwise is...a bit problematic, here, what with everything from so many different worlds all crammed together.

A few enchanted items - what I could make and find - some weaponry, books, a few potions. Sound like anything you'd want?

[Bayonetta's not one who really announces her presence by words, she's much more the type to do so by action. Seeing as over half the time she's in a different realm when walking among humans, it's not like they could hear her anyway.

The bell gives a chime, and the witch steps in, heels clicking against the floor. She inspects what he has to offer, taking a look at the merchandise and sometimes even setting her hand on one of them. They were interesting- nothing like Rodin could make, obviously- but they had some sort of charisma to them. At least they were more preferable to the handguns she had used so long ago.]

So, what sort of magic does a man like you fancy, hmm?

[It's said as both curiosity and a statement, as she hasn't seen any male witches and very few male worshippers of the angels she fought. Bayonetta has her own motives, but that doesn't mean she can't hold a conversation when it comes to something possibly aiding her in battle.]

A magic shop? I can't say I've heard of such an establishment before.

I should hope not, as I only just set it up a day or so ago.

I meant more in general terms. What is it that you sell?

That depends on what you would define as "magic", I think.
