If they are mutations, it means that those powers are in your DNA, passed down by your parents and ancestors. Do everyone in your family has that power?

[Lucy can't help but wonder if Desmond's Eagle Vision ability is something akin to the mutation Sean carries.]

[It's a big accomplishment Sean, be proud. Lucy doesn't laugh a lot back home, and she is certainly not in the mind set for light thoughts. For the young man to have her from thinking about what she just lived through back home is quite a feat.]
