Back from the grave to tell you jesus doesn't always save

[The sky is getting dark, night is coming soon for Promenade. The sun is heavy and blood red on the horizon in the last hours of daylight, turning the ocean scarlet in its final light. Everything is red, the sand on the beach, the buildings, the roads...

the island that, no less than an hour ago, wasn't there.

Its not very big. Just a spit of land ( Read more... )

[ Having been spending a good chunk of time on the island they dared to call her 'place of solace', and she had grown use to seeing the other island inhabited by the fellow seer-slash-cranky-asshole-dragon and usually only that. Nothing new had popped up in the ocean recently so when the island suddenly appearing the young magic user was more than intrigued.

So she decided to investigate, as any sane, logical thirteen year old girl would do, and flew on over to the new island. She armed herself with her needlewands, exploring around a bit and half tempted to dismantle the already disheveled lighthouse just to see what may have been inside...or underneath. Alas, the familiar voice stopped her.

She made her way over to the grave, peering down at Harry with an uplifted brow and an otherwise straight face. ]

Again? Is finding yourself in a shallow grave a normal occurrence for you?

[ She nods. ] Can you walk, or will I have to ferry you across?

I can walk.

[He's on his feet again, but he's a bit wobbly. He makes his way towards the cliffs, eyeing the stone and plank wood steps leading down to a half-rotted old dock with disdain.]

Ferrying might still have to be an option, though.

We'll cross that bridge when we get to it I suppose. If need be, should I not be able to carry you, I could always call Veles and see if we could hitch a ride.

[ Here she offers a hand again, signaling that she will assist him down the stairs. ]

[Harry takes it, much to his bruised and injured pride. It was better than going down the stairs on his face.]

Veles...that dragon, right?

Wonder if he read Lord of the Rings like I suggested.

[ And down they go. Speak not of this ever, Harry. People don't need to know she has feelings. ]

Correct. He and I are island buddies. He found my place of solace not long after my arrival.

It's likely. I've seen him reading quite a bit lately. When he is not sleeping or rambling about his distaste for humans.

[Dont worry, his pride as a macho man is pretty well in the toilet after having a thirteen year old girl carry him down the stairs. Didn't help that he felt like an old man.]

I was torn between suggesting Tolkien or Seuss to him, to be honest.

[ She'd apologize but it's too funny. ]

I'm most certain he would have loved One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.

He'd have a good eye for the classics. Horton Hears a Who has to be on the list. He'd certainly identify with the Grinch.

Most definitely the Grinch. Do you think he might have liked Green Eggs and Ham? I was always fond of that one myself. [ Lies. She totally liked the Cat In The Hat.

Oh look they're at the dock. Prepare to be even less of a man when the thirteen year old girl picks you up via magic, Harry. Be lucky she can't carry you bridal style. ]

Everything makes so much sense now, especially when you think about the lyrics of most rap songs.

[ She's taking it slow at least. ]

Good thing. If you throw up on me I will not hesitate to drop you in the ocean.

I think the good doctor would be spinning in his grave at that thought.

[He cringes a bit. He died in the water.]

Still as a stone, then.

Most certainly.

[ Luckily the beach isn't far off, so soon enough they're landing. She makes sure to keep a hand on him just in case. ] Where to now?

[Harry finds himself a nice rock to park his rump on before he stares out across the water back at Demonreach. Some where over the trip across the waves, Harry remembered that he could dream up stuff, so his staff makes an appearance. Its a creature comfort for him, in addition something to lean against.]

House Six, my old digs, I guess.

[Somehow, he got the idea that the basement apartment wasn't there any more.]
