[ From the looks of things, Rebecca's PORTAL has been abandoned on her desk chair. The angle is awkward, but Rebecca can be seen sitting nearby, stroking her Newfoundland behind his ears. Apparently they're having a bit of a heart-to-heart. ]Hope ran out of time. He didn't say anything; I only found out because he ran into me when he was trying to ( Read more... )

I don't think Hope would want you to be sad about this. He wouldn't want any of us to be sad.

It's just... I knew this was going to happen. He said he'd keep an eye on his mirror.

I guess I'd just hoped we'd figure something out before then.

I didn't know... I would have tried to do something, too.

I'm sorry. Do you need anything?

He didn't really want people to know. I don't think he wanted us to worry.

I... don't know, honestly.

[Elijah's gathered well enough by now that death is no permanent state in this place, but by what she's just said... Just what the hell happened?

Still, that's no question to ask at a time like this. Not yet, at least.]

You have my condolences, Miss Crane.

Thanks. [ Sighs. ] I wish I could say this is the last time I'll make a post like this, accidentally or otherwise, but with this place? Who knows?

You'd think it'd be tougher to die in a city-a dreams like this... [Wait, maybe that wasn't the best thing to say.] Ah-sorry for that. But y'get my meanin'.

No, it's all right. [ She has to deal with death on a regular basis with her job anyway. ] You would, yeah, but I guess it's real enough.

[With his leg as good as new, thanks to Braska (same couldn't be said for his head, hurr hurr), Harry has still been taking it a bit easy the past few days. He figured that, with the city in a state of relative calm, he might as well get his lazing about in before the next crisis came about. But it seemed the next crisis had come a lot sooner than expected when he saw Rebecca's post ( ... )

[ She'd by lying if she said there hadn't been some anger at Harry after she'd had to help kill Hope. Anger was one of the stages of grief, after all, and it was easy to get mad at Harry because he was real -- Rebecca had never seen a fal'Cie, never heard of one except for that mention from Hope, and it's a lot harder to get angry at something you barely know about. She'd gotten over it, the steps continuing to lead her to just be angry at the situation. If this was a city of dreams, why the hell hadn't that timer stopped? Why had Hope had to turn into that... thing, and why had she had to be there to help kill him?

There were no easy answers. There probably never would be, not when it came to things like this.

Ollie notices Harry before he knocks, ears perking in the direction of the door. When the knock does come, the dog barks happily and pads over. Rebecca doesn't even bother getting up from her spot on the couch. ]

It's open.

[She didn't come to answer the door. Harry might not be the most insightful person on the planet, but he knew his friends and that meant that Rebecca was likely pissed or depressed. Considering what he saw on the PORTAL, both were likely. So, quietly, he opens the door, in jeans, duster, and a shirt underneath, but most importantly - he has a case of beer and a plastic bag full of what looks like...

Ice cream and chocolate bars.

He looks at her, guilt making the smile he tries to make for her fall flat.]

Hey...

[ After ascertaining that Mouse isn't with him and that no, none of that food is for him, Ollie pads away to go sleep. Reaching to set her (now magically warded against Harry's techbane, thanks to Sebastian) laptop on the nearby desk, a game of Solitaire clear on the screen, Rebecca gives him the same sort of smile back. ]

Nice shirt.

[ Curling her legs under her a bit more, she pats the free spot on the couch. ]

I'm assuming some of that is for me, so come here and share.

[He estimates with his hands.]

Five times bigger than my fox. He wouldn't even be allowed in our apartment building, back home.
