It's come to my rather unfortunate attention that as of late, we have newly awoken sleepers within our midst, here in the city. Now, usually one would think they would be overjoyed to come here, but further research and probing suggests they are all actually ungrateful and rude. Hostile, even, in some cases. Honestly, most of them act like children ( Read more... )

But this isn't my home. My home is the tower, with my mother. I'm safe there!

As I would rather not repeat myself- you will learn in time. This is your home.

Then where is my mother? Pascal? If this is home, then they should be here too.

Yes, because suddenly waking up in a new environment is a common thing for people to experience. What were we thinking?

Regardless, you have quite a charming way of assuring people. [I SMELL SARCASM]

They are common here, yes. I would have expected more or less a sense of fear or panic upon awakening, but nothing along the lines of being this hostile or ungrateful.

It's good to see that someone notices my handiwork.

Have you heard the phrase "fear has many forms?" Consider that to be an explanation for everyone's hostility and ungratefulness.

Blunt, but to the point. A charming quality indeed!

[A wry and dry response at this.] Now this was the reaction I was talking about. Go hifreann leat, if you would be so kind.

Not until you tell me why I have to wear a mask, lose my voice at night - which is an inconvenience in more ways than one - oh and why I'm here in your ugly little city.

The masks are for equality, the King wishes for a chance at quiet during the evening, and as for your last one-- you awoke here after a long slumber. That is why you're here.

It makes it a little hard to take you seriously when it could be that you just like the sound of your own voice.

I have a few questions, sir. If it's not too much to ask, first might I know the name of the person I am talking with?

Heda Genero. I do not expect you to remember the names and places of the city when you first awake.

Pardon my bad memory then, Mr. Genero. I'm Blaine, but you probably know that already.

You said that we belong here and the city is adapting to us, but why this happened now? And why us?

If we cause that much trouble wouldn't be easier to let us free again? After all, the expected reaction of a child that woke up in a stranger's house is to feel uneasy and wish to get back home.

It also came to my attention than this place either lacks of an educational institution or the institution itself is being hidden from us. There's a large group of young people here, me included, that hasn't finish their education yet. I'm sure that both will agree on how important knowledge is. How can we do this here?

And if it's not much to ask, what's exactly a Place of solace? And I would like to know what's considered a 'productive citizen' here.
