I'm at the computer lab right now.

Kelley is a mere wanna-be frat boy and a black guy with a funny hat away.
**HI KILLBABY!!**

but yeah, not really the point of my post. My point is just this one thing.

Yesterday after my 5-7pm class I stopped to watch the trains roll by because the best Graffiti seems to come on those trains so close to ( Read more... )

Okay to start. it depends on the type of graffiti. the graffiti that is nothing more then signing your name or your gangs name, is not art. BUT! the second part to this is, there is graffiti that is way more then signing your name, I have seen Some of the most beautiful "wall art" aka graffiti is the cement storm drains in Colorado. Now those pictures are really art, even though they are classified at graffiti. But The many many many graffiti wall art pictures i have seen, have been utterly unforgetable. So to me those are art. tagging your name or gangs name. not art. But you have to remember art is in the eyes of the beholder. for example my picture of kelley slicing her arm... my "teacher" didnt think it was art, yet me, kelley and somebody who posted on her myspace said it was art. Long story short. Art is what captures you. Thats what makes it art. and its different for every person.

anyway that you express yuorself is art...
graffiti is art, even my mother sits and judges train ART with me. i dont think its art if you get paid for it. its WORK!
art is love and frustration and pain and anger and emotions that have no name.
art is air

i dont get paid for playing violin...all the time
is it art when i do it for free?
heh...anyways...
graffiti...
it's not art when it's a crappily drawn spider on the side of a business
it's art when it's got a meaning behind it, or when its something that
takes creativity and is more than anyone else could do
my dad thinks that graffiti should be legal for any blank walls in town...any business, any train...
maybe not houses, but public buildings...because he says it's a creative process and it makes things beautiful...sometimes. like i said...if its more than a poorly drawn spider or 3-d box...

yeah and what really bugged me is that he's a musican. i was like would you stop making your music b/c you aren't getting paid for it. and he's like well no, but i want to make a profession out of it. and i was like, well you love it right? It's an art. you're not going to stop making it just b/c you're not getting paid, because you have a passion for it.

grr.

Graffiti = art.

I love riding the train lines in Chicago and looking over all the buildings at shit sprayed over the roofs. Two of my friends have boyfriends that are both taggers, and one of them is FUCKING AMAZING. But it's also cool to walk around and see three letters tagged on a mailbox, and laugh because I know who did it.

Psh. What a silly kid. Graffiti is totally an art form. It's the one thing that makes being railroaded tolerable in this town.
